Visor Mirror - My answer

Recommended Posts

So, given that families are buying NV's like crazy, I don't get the lack of a visor mirror on the passenger side. Its a must have for the wife and so my first project. I wanted something that was stable, but not necessarily permanent and certainly not just glued to the visor, so here you go.

Step 1 - Bought a plastic container from Goodwill for $.49 Cut out two strips (doubled for strength) to go under the paperwork clips on the visor. They go from one side to the other creating a mounting strip/holder.

Step 2 - Bought a cheap mirror at Walmart. Didn't figure the attached tape would hold so bought some 3M brand wider stuff.

Step 3 - Removed the existing tape on the mirror and replaced with a nice fresh chunk of the 3M stuff. Apply firmly to my plastic "holders" and wala non permanent mirror in place.

If my plan fails in some way, I will update you all. Regards Chris

Note: I guess pics are too big to load, I can email if you want them.....

In 2013, trucktrend staffers had the same complaint when doing their long term test of a high top cargo NV.

Good fix... Next up, illumination.

Are you using a Mac? Export your photo to desktop, jpeg medium, go to other options on your post, select photo, attach and there it is. I still don't know if it is possible to attach a photo with an iPhone or iPad.

You will have to explain your user name...

I would love to see some pictures to get some ideas for this mod. My wife loves this van and doesn't complain, but I would like to get some of the creature comfort items that we had from our previous upper trim Sienna. We installed a DVD player. With 4 children, that was a must.

A shaving mirror...wait, you don't need one.

Looks good.

We have a metal "signal" mirror that I thought about attaching to the visor clips. Always forget we have it and end up using the tinted side windows when standing outside putting on sunscreen etc...

Here's some pics of my lighted visor setup.  For each visor I used:

A visor mirror from CUSTOM ACCESSORIES 53331 (2-pack on Amazon).

A pair of Kuled 10-led motion sensing stick, magnet mounted (3-pack also from Amazon).

The nice thing is the magnet mount lets you easily remove the light to change batteries (4xAAA).  It's quite bright (perhaps too bright) so you might try a smaller LED light system, but it works.  No special connections required (I attached it with the adhesive that comes pre-mounted on both the mirror and the light).  The light comes on when you flip down the visor in the dark.  When you put it back, it stays on for about 10 seconds and then shuts off.  Driving over bumps has not set it off accidentally yet.  So far, so good...
