Curious what kind of issues you've had (or expect) from your NV

 
I'm personally kind of sick of how frequently my 2007 sprinter has been in the shop since i bought it (at 80,000 miles). When buying I didn't realize the high top version could be had from 27k-32k brand new.. they can also tow much more and the 4x4 conversion is around 10k. The NV's do use more gas and seems like space efficient is less as the hook sticks out so far compared to euro style sprinters. Does anyone know the distance from the back of the seat to the back door?

I believe the distance from bottom of seat to back door is 10 feet.

Chris - I have a 2014 with around 20K miles. Not a single issue- great van. The mileage isn’t great, but I’ve driven Ford vans for 25 years, so I’m used to lousy gas mileage.

Same here....34,000 miles on a passenger van, some towing an RV and cargo trailer, but mostly family and leisure use. No issues other than a strange electrical issue caused by me putting LED bulbs in the brake lights. Once I switched back to the oem bulbs the issue was gone.

 

Nothing about the van or drivetrain makes me uneasy or question its reliability. The NV is about as simple and robust as you'll find. Not to say that no one has any issues, but they appear to be few and far between. Leaps and bounds better than the Savana we replaced....

I have had radio gremlins (I am waiting on my 3rd radio to come in).  I had some QC issues when I first picked it up but they were handled.  Since then no major issues at all.  We really like the van, put on 25,000 miles in one year with a mix of towing our camper and just running around a lot!

good to hear about a 34,000 mile nv. for some reason there's a lot of used NV's for sale at 22,000 mile range.. was wondering if that's when issues start occurring with the gas motor

My 2013 NV2500 V6 HighRoof is just shy of 40k miles, with no problems.  And the space from behind seat to rear door?  I would say is 9+ feet, considering that some people push driver's seat back for leg room and if you insulate back doors, etc... it is less than 10 feet.  Call it nine, when planning out a DIY build.  You can carry 10 foot items like pipe and lumber, if you run it down the center, between the seats... but that isn't a factor, when figuring out bed, cabinets, storage, etc.  Love my NV... will have owned it 2 years, come Jan 2017.  And... ps, if you are thinking of buying used, get 2014 or newer, so you get the balance of it's 100K/5 yr warranty.  My 2013 had the old 36k/3 yr one, with a little left on it for me, when I bo't it used.

thanks for the tips, do you know how the length/interior space compares to the sprinter? visually it seems like it's the length of the longer 170 sprinter but interior space of shorter 140 sprinter?

I am having a paint issue on my 2014 high roof. Rust pin pricks that I polished out came back. According to my brother in law that is a body man....this is normal for Nissan as they use cheap steel. I don't know how to work around it at this stage....

I've polished nearly every make of car known.... Tons of Fords, GM, Hondas, Nissan. The tiny rust specs appear on everything I've ever seen. It has nothing to do with the steel, but it's just tiny metallic specs that land on the clear coat and oxidize, in my opinion. The rear of vehicles seems to be the most prevalent, behind the rear wheels and above the rear bumper where the air turbulence kicks lots of garbage up. That's what I've seen to be true in Michigan at least.

 

They can usually be removed with a fingernail, clay bar, Polish, etc, but always return. Frequent washing and polishing makes hem disappear much easier :)

I've had the same problem with rust spots and tried a few different products. Wax and polish works also a clay bar. The most recent product was Car-Pro's iron x which worked very well and easy to use. Seems like the fall weather brings it on every year alot of rain moisture.

2013 nv 2500 v6. Just hit 82k miles.

One little issue with driver seat. Was loose, can feel move bottom of the seat on curves. Took it to my dealer in fairfield CT and they replace the tracks under warranty. Btw best dealer ever that I have bean deal with. Transmission oil changed at 40k and 80k. New brakes at front cause hit deep water and rotors got bend at 60k pads were 50% but replaced everything. Rear brakes still around 60%. Raplaced all fluids at 65k. That's all.

All miles are city or suburbs drive as s construction van.

So far best car that I ever had and definitely next will be nissan nv. Not a beautiful but great.

This is true.  And to add to the problems, most I ever hear a snicker about is a backup sensor or something one off.  I don't know of any re occuring issue with any of the products in the commercial line up I sell.  My customers return for that very reason.  These vans are VERY stout.
