Who has removed the door panels?

Recommended Posts

I've had door panels off other vehicles in the past.

I want to know about the clear sheet of plastic and the "silly putty" that attaches it to the door.

Were you able to reinstall the plastic sheet?

Don't worry about that sheet it will go back on if the putty doesn't stick back to it take a blow dryer and just warm it a bit and it should regain it's stick!

the putty when it's really warm out is nasty don't get it on your skin it is hard to get off. as well as head hair arm hair haha and any other hair that might be near it! TMI! ;)

I'm totally guessing, but I'd say it acts as a vapor barrier.

Yes - most likely - probably "protecting" the camera.

Anyway, I removed it (the plastic) 3 yrs ago when applying sound dampener and insulation to that cavity - never replaced it.

Can you tell Us what kind of Dampener and insulation you used? :)  Also did it do what you were looking for it to?

I used GTMAT sourced from a vendor on eBay. Just applied a few index card sized pieces inside the door cavity - made the door sound heavier/more substantial when closing.

For insulation I used a combination of Great Stuff closed cell spray foam and Roxul unfaced rock wool batts from Lowe's. Stayed away from vitals.
