Funny Jalopnik write-up about the NV 1500, 2500, 3500

Recommended Posts

It's a valid point from a functional aspect. But one thing they don't mention is having to service any engine components under the hood of the transit, pm, or sprinter, it would be a nightmare. I like to do all my own maintenance and given the option I'll take the body on frame pickup design of the NV.

The NV has always been about pure function to me.... Not design. My old mechanic hated my Savana with a passion. His exact words were "if it were up to me, vans would be illegal to sell" becuase of the lack of working room around the V8. Does the setup of the NV have its drawbacks? Of course. But every design does.

If you take away the "Van" label and call the NV a "truck" with "the most useable and accessible passenger compartment ever" it's a winner every time. ;)

A Chevy van was my DD during my twenties. I hated getting to the engine by taking the console apart. Then I always felt uneasy about the possibility of not sealing it properly.

I love my NV van. I love its front end.
