Remote Starter

Recommended Posts

Hi All:

I thought I would share this info with the group.  I had the Nissan Dealer install a remote engine starter.  The model I selected was the idatastart HC3452A.  This is a Nissan approved company and it's who the dealers order from and stocks parts.

I looked at other products from other suppliers and kept getting the same answer - it should work but we can't guarantee that it will work or if it works you may not have all the feature working.  Didn't like that answer.

It turns out as well that when the Nissan Dealer installs the remote starter it gets covered under their 3 yr/ 60,000 km warranty.  It took the dealer about 3 hours to install - it was their first NV3500 that they have wired.  It turns out it did not work once installed.  Since it was quitting time for the mechanics I left my vehicle in the bay overnight.  The dealer made a call to idatastart in the morning and they corrected the problem immediately.

I have been using the remote starter for two weeks now and it truly feels and works like it came from the factory.  All the buttons and all the features work.

Looking into a remote starter, your the second person that said they went with a dealer install idata starter. Can you tell me what other bells and whistles it comes with? I’m looking for two way communication, like GPS, to tell where the van is. Also can you remotely open the door from a smartphone, Incase you lock your keys in the van?

Lgpalmer, every brand of remote starter I looked at (Compustar, Viper, & Fortin) has those features as optional upgrades.  You can also get a keypad that goes in the corner of the windshield so you can unlock the van even if you don't have your phone with you.

Lgpalmer - the idatastar remote that my dealer installed does not have the features you are describing.  It has the basics and a few extended features but they are all based/programmed with the included remote and does not connect with other external devices.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
