Radio Knobs

Recommended Posts

Both radio knobs (volume and tune) have broken on my 2013 NV3500. Anybody found any replacement knobs? Nissan said they don’t sell them. Have to buy a new radio from them to get the knobs.

Finding the exact same knob for sale may be impossible.  Here are some other options:

  • Fix the broken knobs using super glue (try not to glue them to the radio)
  • Search a junkyard for similar knobs that are the right sizes
  • If you don't care about appearance, you can make a replacement knob yourself.  You could use a slice of dowel with a hole in drilled in the center for a rustic look.  Or heat up some Instamorph and stick in directly on the shaft for more of a Gumby look.
  • If you have access to a 3D printer, you can try one of the parametric knob designs on Thingiverse.
  • Replace the radio

Good luck!

Google Nissan used parts, plug in your zip code and call the nearest salvage yard that specializes in Nissans. You may find Nissan puts essentially the same radio/nav unit in multiple vehicles, particularly in trucks.

Failing this... There have been posts about problems with the oem radio as well as dissatisfaction. I would look for a new radio, probably getting a better radio for less or the same money.

If you go the salvage route, you may end up buying the radio to get the knobs. Not a bad way to go...

Is there an end around for this? Glue the knobs as best you can, leave it on radio with nav map showing, use presets or scan and the steering wheel controls for volume.

Or, does it default to nav only when you turn on the ignition switch? We don’t use our radio that much, particularly when reception is terrible.
