Inside Drivers Rear Quarter Panel?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any idea of the function of the black plastic box, mounted on the inside bottom of the rear, drivers side, quarter panel?

If it's what I think your talking about, I believe its a vent.

I looks like a vent, but it doesn't seem to be part of the rear climate control system.  (The return vent for the rear climate control is under the second row.)  I wonder if it provides an exhaust to the outside for air that blows in from the front.  Just a guess.

I think it’s the cabin vent for when a door closes, as on most vehicles. That’s a guess, but it was always my belief that was it’s purpose.

I removed mine and patched over the opening. My guess is the inverter is mounted just above it at floor level in that same cavity. The inverter has a fan and creates heat when it operates hence a vent to allow air movement and heat dissipation.
