In your dreams...

Recommended Posts

Was an NV in your dreams? No way, probably. But what was?

Mine was a Land Rover Defender that I would drive from Alaska to Cape Horn, the tip of South America. Bought a well used 1962 that had spent its life in India. Somehow it ended up in Tucson in the ‘70s. Dream still on. Not exactly. Family first. I still have the dream, but it may be in our NV or not... In 2013, we did the northern section, Tucson to Alaska to San Diego to Tucson.

What brought this on? adventure-journal.com has an article and video in Overlandia about Land Rovers and Range Rovers.

Then there was the 1967 Porsche 911...

When I was 15-16, my buddy and I fantasized about buying Jeeps and driving around the country camping in areas only accessible with 4WD.

I ended up buying a 1982 CJ-5 and did a lot of traveling with it, but little camping. Had a lot of crazy fun until it caught fire on a Lake Michigan beach and burned to the ground. Probably the best thing that could have happened, as the quality control back then was horrible; constant problems with everything on that vehicle. In spite of the headaches, loved that Jeep.
