Honey Do It Right

Windows for cargo area. Aftermarket.

Recommended Posts

I have a 2500 bought used and I installed some rear seating for picking up kiddos from school and such. I have no windows on the slider or on the drivers side. The rear doors do have windows. Has anyone installed the aftermarket windows? I have seen them available from a couple different Mfr's. I could surely do this myself as I installed the rear seating. The task is a bit gnarley as you are cutting the sheet metal out of the door and the panel on the drivers side. ( Seats taken from a MAZDA MPV. They bolt into the floor. They clip in and out for simple stowing. Passenger side slides to the center on tracks for rear access.Tried to post pics but file too large.)

I have side and rear Hehr windows that came from nissanvanwindows.com/page2 . I did not install them since I found a glass shop that turnkeyed the project for two Benjamins. I really didn't want to have to explain to the wife why a rear window fell off into traffic.

The side window is a "pinch" design with an inner frame. I remember the glass guy saying he would also use some glue on the side window. He also had to loosen the door latch to work the edge of the inner frame into place in that corner.

I like the windows - installed for about a year now and no leaks.

wollip are your side windows stationary? They show a vented style also with the bottom of the glass pushed out maybe 3"; wonder about leaks on that style.

I just have the side window in the slider and it is fixed. My other side "windows" are 3M gloss black film. Those areas look so much like real windows that most people don't even realize they are fake.

I installed a C R lawence (sp?) Window in the slider on my van  . You just carefully cut the sheet metal along the factory panel frame , and remove the door handle trim . I had to trim my opening a bit extra because the glass wasn't perfectly square on the glued on frame  , To have the window fit flush as it should . Trim door handle cover a little bit and reinstall . One of the best mods I've made to my van , the increase in visibility outward is PRICELESS !!! Been about a year now , and still no leaks or rattles , and it rains ALOT where I live !!!

 Still love this van !

I bought the windows direct from Nissan. I paid about $425 for the pair. The slider is fixed and the drivers side hinges at the top. I preferred fixed but it was all they offered at the time. It was simple I mean real simple, to do. Just over 2 hours start to finish. See the pics I posted of the process.

I have a NV1500 that I want to add the slider and pasenger window in, I'd like to find out more aboout the windows that were purchased from Nissan,  i'm also in Denver, what dealer did you order from? order did you order directly from the website? I've had issues with one not ordering the right NV parts for me.  Also do you have the part #'s.

Thanks,

I purchased several windows. The top window for the slider from CR Laurence and the largest sunroof also from CR Laurence I purchased from Amazon.

The drivers side passenger tilt out window I purchased from Nissan, if I remember correctly. I wish the tilt out tilted out more. The sunroof is AMAZING. We haven't taken it all the way out more than a time or two, but tilting it up is a lifesaver in the desert in the summer. The small window above the factory window on the slider looks weird, but it is also nice to have.

I am a little jealous of the much larger rear windows the Sprinter gets, but I am not jealous of the admission price. I would like to have the rear windows tilt out though.

Considering I drive the second ugliest vehicle on the road, I don't much care what it looks like on the outside, because I am on the inside. So, having windows in an odd configuration is a minor detail.

Dented - I hate to think there's something uglier than the NV. Are you referring to the Dodge?
