Beware: Window scratch during tinting

Recommended Posts

I want to share my experience of having my driver and passenger windows tinted.

The van was in my possession for only 15 hours. Windows clean, no scratches.

I took it to a local business. They made a template from the exterior side of the window and use the

glass as a cutting board for quick cuts on the film. When I left, the light

hit the scratch caused by the Olfa/Utility knife that was about 3" long.

I told the technician and he said it was there before, caused by a sticker that was there, etc.

He will not take ownership of the scratch. After talking with him extensively, he offered

to pay for the window to get buffed out. I don't think so. I also found an identical scratch

on the other window from their same technique. The scratch is deep enough to catch your fingernail.
Don't let this happen to you. Take pictures of your window beforehand and let them know not to cut on top of the glass.

Thanks for the tip.  I have noticed that compared to other vehicles in a parking lot my driver and passenger windows look so transparent that they can appear to be rolled down.
