They said what?!? (... funny comments heard re: NV)

Recommended Posts

In one week of ownership of High Roof 2500:

- Adult daughter's guy friend, upon being told I had put a mattress in the back:

....... "She could put a whole bedroom suite in there!"

- Eleven year old grandson, getting a ride to school:

...... "Could you let me out before the school, Nana?"

...... "Why? You don't want the kids to see you getting out of my van?"

...... "Ya.... It's really nice and I like it, but.... It's SO big!"

...... "Ok, I'll let you out in the church parking lot across the street."

We park, he goes to rear doors, and, while looking both ways for witnesses, does his stealth exit!

- A friend:

...... "It looks like one of those 'stake-out' vans in the movies."

I'm glad my kids are still young enough that they think it's cool.  They love the space and being up high.  In fact, when shopping, they helped me decide on the NV over the Expedition EL and Suburban.

I love being up higher than any of the SUVs out there. Cool that your kids noticed it, and it was a deciding factor!

I agree.  Must admit I feel very much like I did when I got my first Honda Element in 2004.  The INSIDE sold me... the being high up, the simplicity of interior design (rubber mat floor/no carpet), the SPACE.  I feel all that in the NV, also... but with space to dance if I wanna!

One more comment:

- From younger daughter's guy friend, after hearing the description... he still has not seen the NV yet.

...... "So, it's sorta like an Element on Steroids!"

LOL.... Yup!

I had a 2005 element with a 5-spd.  Loved that car until I had a kid.  Suicide doors and far back seat placement in rear made baby car seats a no go.  Had to sell it after only a year.  I wish the passenger NV had a rubber floor option. I would've gone with that over carpet any day...

Yes, I did not like the suicide doors on the Element.  Will admit I am missing a rear side door on the driver's side tho'.  It's a trick to grab 2 bags of groceries AND pull myself into the vehicle and then sling those bags to the passenger side.  Otherwise, I have to "circle'round" to the back doors or the passenger side to put stuff in the back and then back to driver door to climb into van.

My daughter loves the NV, or Frank as we've named him. The only downside is that she demands to be let out the rear cargo doors...

Not a funny comment, but something I have been asked more, in a month of ownership, than any other vehicle I have ever owned...

... "How much did this cost you (set you back, etc...)?"   ...like, once a week, so far.

It catches me off-guard, just a little.  I really can't think of any other time, in my life, that some STRANGER has bluntly asked me the price of my car, until now.  They always follow with ... "I'd like to buy one..." so I guess it's a good thing.

Just kinda weird...
