  1. I assume the OP and most ppl in here aren't 17 years old, don't ride the brakes down the hill, take overdrive off, and go manual when it's steep. Clearly with so many ppl complaining about the same thing, it's an issue with the rigs and not everyone being idiots... but thanks for contributing...?
  2. Same issue with my 2013 2500 cargo high roof. Well first it shook while braking, especially down hill. Shop said the rotors in front were warped so I bought new ones OE and that seemed to fix the problem.... for a while. Well it Did fix the brake shake, but like the rest of you guys, I started noticing wheel shake not while braking, but while accelerating or decelerating around the 55 mph range (give or take 5). I do have aftermarket 17" wheels which are a little wider than stock, wrapped with 285/75r BF Goodrich KO2s fyi. Is this happening to people with stock wheels/tire sizes/weights too? I've been wondering if these axles (which NOBODY makes lockers for?!) are just too weak, or the calipers sticky... shoot I dunno your guess is as good as mine but clearly there is an issue. Frankly the more I think of it the more I'm tired of almost zero aftermarket locker (which the van sorely needs IMO)... and it seems to come down to this axle/diff. Is it not the same as the Titan or Titan XD? If so, why the heck are there no lockers available? Even Advanced 4x4 in Salt Lake City to converts the van to 4x4 high and low range says they won't put a locker on it because... they didn't fully explain but I got he impression that the whole diff houseing and maybe the axle may need to be replaced and at that point there wouldn't be enough people to sell it to cause it would be too expensive. Anyone know more about this?
  3. Anyone have any updates on this or options other than Quigley or Advanced 4x4? What about that Chris guy at U-Bolt? My NV also gets stuck SO easily on simple stuff like wet grass or mud... not even much incline, like just going in and out of a duck hunting club, getting stuck feeling like an idiot cause I can't even turn around without getting stuck in a little wild grass. So I hope you ended up getting 4x4 and hopefully you can share what you learned about the options and why you chose what you did? Or did hubby convince you that the cargo van has good traction as is? Oh and PS my 32" (no lift) KO2s did help, but the limited slip diff is... well it's one for a cargo van in town, but when you actually need the system to transfer torque in a traction-needed situation, it's useless.
  4. In 2016 I bought a Salvaged 2013 NV2500HD High Roof. A week or two into ownership, while carrying a heavy load of steal and approaching a red light in town, my brakes suddenly fully went out. I had what felt like about 5% of power to the brakes. Luckily I didn't hit anyone as I rolled through the red light while I hit the emergency brake which slowly brought me to a stop. If that happened on the free way, someone would have died. I had essentially no brakes. Anyway... Brought it to Nissan dealer and it was about $1700 repair for... what was it... master silinoid?...it was the "brain" to the ABS system. I'm sorry my termonology isn't correct because that's not my forte but it was a major component of the ABS system. That was in 2016... I still own the van and have driven it all over half the country including 11k elevation steep declines etc. No problems since then... but I'm sharing because it sounds maybe related to what you're talking about.
  5. No but I once saw it on pornhub... my condolences and best wishes for a speedy recover
  6. These are of course new rims but they are the stock 17". They are deeper though. I forget the offset but the tires are BF Goodrich All-terrain's from BigOTires in Oakland CA. They were about $250 per tire and the rims were approximately $215 each. The tires rub the sliding door but not enough to really bug me.
  7. Yes I did notice the power gain. We're not talking about a lot of power gain here, but it was noticable, both in the low end "off the line", and when flooring it. The difference is small, but noticeable. That, in addition to the cool new sound made it all worth it :-)
  8. I replaced my stock tires (245/70/17) with much larger tires (285/70/17... BF All-Terrains). I'd like to get accurate gas mileage at the pump, and it seems I can no longer get the correct speed/gas mileage due to having significantly larger tires. My question is, is there something I can do in order to correct for the speedometer, so that I can 1) see the correct speed, and 2) correctly calculate my gas mileage? I'm not a "car guy" per say, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! 2013 Nissan NV 2500 HD V6 high roof. ps, yes the 285 tires work. There is a little bit of rubbing on the sliding door, but not enough to annoy me. I also replaced the wheels themselves at the same time, but kept them at the same 17" wheels so i can still have lots of soft side wall for a smooth ride and more grip when off road for the lack of 4x4. I forgot what the offset on the wheels was...
  9. On my 2013 Nissan NV 2500 HD V6, I put on a set of BF Goodrich All-Terrains, size 285/70/17. I replaced the wheels at the same time, but I kept them at 17" (same size as stock wheels). With these tires on, I do get a little rub when opening the sliding side door, however, it's not enough to annoy me. I can still easily get the door open... barely rubs...hardly notice it. Roughly 3" difference in overall wheel diameter, and roughly 1.5" raise at the axle. I definitely feel the difference with a smoother ride due to increased tire weight and tred. I have the tires filled to only 60 psi because I want a smoother ride. A rough ride is one of my biggest gripes with my NV. This is my personal vehicle and I wanted much more grip when going hunting/camping... not to mention the looks. Totally changes the look of the vehicle if it's your personal ride and it matters.
  10. 2013 NV 2500 HD V6 with high roof: My AC also seems to fluctuate as you describe... it's annoying. It's decently cold for a spell, then it's not decently cold for a spell... over and over. I also noticed that the passenger size vents seem to push out colder air than my driver's side...also annoying. I feel like my AC is barely adequite to make me comfortable on hot California days... which aren't as hot at places like Arizona etc. I bought the van only 7 months ago and I have not gotten bugged enough to take it in to see if there is anything wrong with it yet... but it's annoying and IF there is nothing wrong with it, it just seems like a lame AC.
  11. I'm doing it every 5k as I feel it's not too much, not too little, and convenient to get the tires rotated at the same time since I replaced my stock NV 2500 wheels/tires with BF Goodrich All Terrains (285/70/17)... I don't want to make separate trips for oil changes and tire rotations, and I haven't gotten into changing my own oil so...
  12. Hi All. I wanted to share that even though K&N doesn't officially make an air intake replacement kit for the Nissan NV, I crossed my fingers and ordered the kit for the Nissan Xterra, and it worked! I have a 2013 Nissan NV 2500 HD V6 with high roof. The motor seems to be Basically the same as the Xterra and the Frontier. I just looked at photos of the motors and betted that that it would work. What does need some custom fitting is the box housing for the cold air intake: Because the mounting points of the stock intake on the Xterra/Frontier are different from the NV's, you'll have to bend a couple of the mounting brackets that K&N gives you, and drill & tap a couple holes into the frame of your NV to be able to mount the cold air intake box thing. Other than that, fitting the main intake tube was not a problem. I didn't have to bend the rubber connections much (or at all) in order to get it to face the right direction, and the hose and electrical connection worked out just fine. I did have to get rid of the stock engine cover which is connected to the stock intake tube, but... oh well. The result is that, as many describe after installing aftermarket air intake kits, the throdle is a little more "responsive". Basically it reacts a little bit (but noticeably) quicker off of the line. I did not notice a difference in sound upon simply starting the car, however upon throdling, especially when putting the pedal to the metal, the increase in acceleration is not huge, but definitely there. You can feel that the air flow has opened up, and the sound is nicer... not at all loud, but ever so slightly more aggresive, and with a slightly lower pitch. I've literally only driven it from the place it was parked to the muffler store, but in that short ride I could easily tell the small difference. I didn't get any engine lights or anything, so that's good. Now the NV is at the muffler shop getting a Magnaflow 18" muffler replacement. The stock muffler is a 22". If you don't want the NV to be loud (which, I don't), Magnaflow recomended that I do not get anything less than the 18" replacement. The guy at the muffler shop told me that if you get the 24" replacement it might be even more quiet than the stock. I don't want to grab attention or be annoyed by exhaust noise in my car, yet I would be a little exited by a little "vroom", so I just decided to go with the 18". I'll write about what I notice after getting that installed too. As for the air intake just go to K&N's website and punch in for the Nissan Xterra. I forget exactly, but I believe the kit works for years 2012-2015. As for other years, I don't know if that will work and you might want to take a real close look at photos of your engine vs. photos of Xterra/Frontier to see if the angles are right for the intake kits. I also don't know how this would work for the V8 models... however, the V8s in the Nissan Titan are said (word of mouth... don't quote me) to be the same as the NV's V8. If any of you have success or failures installing aftermarket air intake kits on your year/engine size, do the rest of the NV owners a favor and post here... for, as you all probably know, finding aftermarket parts for the NV is HARD... and annoying. Had I known that almost nothing is made for the NV in terms of aftermarket parts, I might have chosen a different van, but, I'm glad to know I can gain roughly 12 horsepower by replacing with a K&N aftermarket air intake kit. I got the cheaper plastic option (not the metal tube) because it apparently gives slightly more increase in horses, and ironically is a little cheaper than the metal tube replacement. PS, I live in California so I got the CA legal version. Good luck!
