Hello from Ohio

Recommended Posts

Hello from Ohio, coming to you by way of beautiful Smokey Mtn National Park. I have been looking at the NV since 2013 as a potential upgrade/replacement for our 04 Odyssey. This will be the daily driver for my wife and 5 kids. I have been watching the used market and not many of you are selling your NVP! Ended up finding a 2016 SL off a 1 year lease that is in fantastic condition in Nashville. So, made a long 1-day road trip and now she's ours. One week later we are relaxing in Gatlinburg on the family's maiden voyage. Reading the forum was a great resource in making our decision, primarily just to see that there are very few major issues to complain about. Looking forward to being part of the community around here.

Welcome!  We travel to the TN mountains and love to hike there.  We're also originally from OH but have lived in SC for almost 15 years now.  We're from the Akron area up in OH and still have family in the area.

Nice color choice, we love our silver.

Considering we wash cars about once per decade, and our kids bikes seem to have magnetic attraction to the car doors, we wanted a color where the abuse wouldn't be as obvious. I would have been more inspired by blue or black, but practical (and available at the right price!) won out. Silver it is! It did great today on both the long ascent to and descent from Clingmans Dome at 6300ft. Tons of power going up and very controllable going down with the trans in manual mode.

We've done Clingmans a few times!  That is one steep hike up even if it is paved but the views are well worth it.  The way back down was really fun in my NV, I never touched the gas pedal once after we left the parking lot!  We coasted the entire way back down to the base never using the accelerator once.  I think I did have it in manual mode a couple times just so I was not riding the brakes.  I did it more as an experiment to see if I could make it the whole distance!

Post some photos. We were in that area 2 years ago but had little local info on a trip to and from D.C.

Welcome and congrats. Good choice on silver. When I was shopping for our van, we could've chosen any color we wanted as long as it was black (that was the only freaking color they had). Black is so difficult to keep clean.
