We have a tandem spot in the left slot of our garage. More than long enough for the NV. But the height of the door is the problem. Our right door only can hold a single car. We have to keep the NV in our driveway unfortunately in the hot Texas sun. Fortunately our house shades the van in the hottest part of the day, and we have the windows tinted. The Transit won't fit either because of height. And the Sprinter is definitely out! I can fit a suitcase behind the last row of the vehicle. However, it isn't good for grocery trips or strollers without taking two of the seats in the back out. Our van is being used as a 10 passenger van right now with the two seats out. With those seats out there is still more than enough room for our family. If we need to take 12 people and cargo, we'd need a small trailer.

When we went to the dealership to look at the NV3500 the dealer first brought out a black NV3500. When I went to drive it the sonar would not stop beeping. He brought out the one we ended up buying, and it didn't have the issue. That said, ours beeps for no reason so many times when we are driving it, it is annoying. We've had two vehicles in the past that have had a sonar unit, and none of them have the problems the NV3500 does with its sonars. It is probably the most disappointing part of the vehicle. Though, we love the car overall. I hope that they figured out what was wrong with that black NV's sonars. It just wouldn't stop!

We have been loving our NV3500HD SL so much, I decided to write a review of it on our family's blog. I hope to continue to update it over time. http://christcodeandkids.com/2015/08/04/nissan-nv3500-hd-real-life-canyonero/

Seeking Advice: NV Passenger Van + RV for Family of 7?
kodos replied to Fred Fauth's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Great topic! We just recently bought a NV3500SL (Java). We only have four kids right now but are hoping for more. I have been blessed to be able to start working from home and my job allows me to be mobile, so we are planning on exploring more of the country. This is a great thread because we want to start camping eventually, and will start with renting a camper to tow. I've never towed a thing in my life before, so we will take it easy at first. Good to know that these vehicles are good at towing. We've only ever had minivans until now, so we've never been able to tow anything of significance, excited to be able to do so. In a lot of ways, the NV3500 is the ultimate vehicle for our family - we want to be more active and enjoy each other's company and this thing really allows us to live that kind of lifestyle. Feel blessed that a vehicle like this exists and is reasonably affordable (cheaper than a Suburban!) -
Not too many here, even in Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. Funny thing is we just moved from Corinth, TX to Melissa, TX and our old neighborhood had a single black NVP. We moved and bought the sole Java NVP in our community. So at least there's two in the Metroplex that I know of :). We pulled off the freeway one Sunday coming back from church, and a woman in a Suburban looked at us turning into a residential street and my wife said she could see her mouthing, "what is that thing?". Ha!

Ha! I have a 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth, as well as our new 2015 NVP SL. They make an odd couple to be sure :)

Well, after doing more research - this seems like a bad idea. Crockpots (unless they are a dinky one that is suitable for 1 or 2 people) draw way more watts than our inverters are capable of when driving. So, that's out of the question. I'm looking into Thermal Cookers instead - those seem like a great idea for a roadtrip like ours.

We are the proud new owners of a 2015 Java NV3500 SL! We got it due to our family outgrowing minivans (we are planning to have our fifth child soon) and our love for roadtrips. We are planning our first trip from Texas to Missouri next week, and we have it in our minds to use our crockpot to cook while we travel so we can stop at a rest stop and eat, instead of spending money on food while out (also our youngest two have food allergies that makes eating out a dicey affair sometimes). Electrical systems are not my specialty, and I notice that it appears as if the NV3500 is limited to 150W when driving according to the owner manual. Does anyone know of a crockpot that would fit the bill? I'm not certain what Wattage my crockpot (it is a 6 qt.) uses at the various settings. Does anyone have experience with crockpot cooking in the NV3500? There are also two outlets in the van. What are the limits in running multiple devices at once? My kids loved being able to play their WiiU in the van (the gamepad acts as the display when you don't have it plugged into a TV).
