How To: Remove dash panels to access radio or pockets

Oh, and BTW, I just scored a Rosen Pirahana PR-UN1170 Double DIn 4" head unit w/Nav, Bluetooth phone, AM/FM radio on EBay for $140. I hope it isn't a scam. Just what I need to replace my 2014 NV1500 S stock 2DIN am/fm/cd player. My dealer has a set of wiring diagrams for the Radio waiting for me to pick up. They looked them up in their system & printed them for me. Very good service, I hope they give me the info I need for the connections. The Rosen unit should come with a manual, or I should be able to get one from them which contains wiring inputs to the head. Will keep you posted on results after my unit arrives. Hopefully no scam, but I am a little worried. Sounds too good a price to be true. Bill Melrose MA -
How To: Remove dash panels to access radio or pockets

Thanks AS Dad! Using your typed directions above I had access to the radio in my NV 1500 in 15 mins. I did buy the Pry Tools beforehand, and they were definitely needed. I found out why the instrument bezel needed to come off. It provides access to the screws that hold the radio/climate bezel. It is not pressed in as I expected, and my initial attempts to remove it were thwarted by the unseen screws. My wife's VW needed a radio after it broke, and the bezel pried right out. Overkill I think on the NV1500 to screw it in. Just my $.02. Without these directions I would have never started with the panel above my knees. Sheesh. Has anyone removed a left side phone steering wheel control panel yet? I cannot get mine off, nor do I see screws or retainers that hold it in. It is very secure in it's place, even though I have the blank panel w/no phone controls. TIA -
How To: Remove dash panels to access radio or pockets

What unit have people been using to replace the factory CD/AM/FM radio with NAV and Bluetooth hands free radio? I have found Rosen Electronics have a Pirhana unit that fits into the NV1500. It does Nav, AM/FM/CD, bluetooth hands free radio. Questions: ) I have no steering wheel phone controls, can I add them? I cannot figure out how to remove the flat panel so I could install factory phone control panel. ) Backup Camera options, my van doesn't have it. Again, the Rosen can take av input so can put in camera. What else have you used? -
Back, just some context, my NV1500 Van has single CD player, no hands free phone buttons on steering wheel. From what I see, the NAV unit stands alone, and backup camera shows up on same screen. Bluetooth jphone seems to be inside the same unit. So my questions: - How to open up dash to remove CD radio to replace w/NAV/Bluetooth Phone/Backup camera stock unit. ( have tried to pry panel off around CD player with little success. - Do these vans come pre-wired for Bluetooth phone connections under my flat plastic plate on steering wheel? IF so I can just buy panel with phone controls from junkyard and plug in. - Is Backup camera pre-wired into van so I can hook up to NAV/CD/Backup camera unit that I want to put into dash? NOTE, I have read posts here that people have removed Stock NAV/ Radio unit. Is there something wrong with that unit? Or are they just wanting more flexibility with Audio Inputs? NOTE2: I am not that much interested in Audio, I don't want to be fiddling with phone and NAV while I am driving. I use NAV on Google Maps to get places and in-dash seems much more practical. Same with Bluetooth phone, enabling hands free phone usage. Bill Melrose MA

Hi all, Just purchased a used NV1500 Van. I don.\'t have NAV and Bluetooth phone or backup camera. This is my business van, and thest things are important to me. I didn't know that they came with these options. Guess I didn't do my homework :-). There is a parts yard near me with a NV3500 in it wrecked in front. It seems to have all these options. I cannot find a description on removal of the radio anywhere else. I thought I saw one here, it was without pictures. Can someone chime in with a link to topics that could help w/Bluetooth, radio and backup camera removal & installation? I'll have to figure out how to search the archives of this forum. Next step I guess. Thanks Bill
