Although I can easily defend myself when it comes to pretty much any other kind of car repair/mods I’m not super savvy when it comes to wiring and electrical systems so I’m reaching out to the NV community in an attempt to solicit help. I have a 2016 NVP3500 SL and am in the process of upgrading the audio system throughout the van. Given that the interior panels are removed for this upgrade, I decided I would take advantage and add some additional USB3.0 quick charge ports on both rear quarter panels. In order to get power to these new outlets my plan was to just splice into the existing cigarette lighter and 120v outlet on the drivers side and then run wiring from the 120v outlet in the center console hidden along the floor panels all the way to about 5” above the 6x9 speaker where I plan to cut a spot in the panel & install the small panel including two additional USB3.0 ports. My question is: I looked up the part number located on the small silver box (approx 6”x6”) located bolted to the hollow rectangular space near the left rear door and it appears to be a power inverter. Photos attached below. Does anyone know what this supplies power to? Has anyone connected to this and gotten power for additional outlets like what I’m looking to do? Maybe a power source for an amp/subwoofer? Small fridge/freezer combo? I would be very grateful for any input from those in the community on what this power inverter is designated for AND if I can use it for these additional power sources OR to bring power to an external amplifier/subwoofer would be greatly appreciated! I would love to not have to run wiring for my amp’s power all the way from the 12v battery under the hood! Thanks in advance!

I am posting this so if anybody else has this problem, or if they have had this problem, write below. So awhile back the MIL light came on, it came back as code P0448. A pretty common code with the 5.6 motor, evaporative emissions systems vent, short circuit. I thought no big deal, I must have filled the gas tank too full too many times. It would come and go, I would ignore it and clear the code. Fast forward to last Saturday, I come out of work and start the truck. It reads low fuel. Ok, whatever. I go to the gas station and fill it up, 11.3 gals and shutoff. Umm, check the fuel gauge and it's still on E. I figured the gas gauge was bad, so I started to keep track of the fuel/mileage. Sunday, I go to start the truck and it wont start, WTF. I check the codes (P0448, P0447, P0183, P0181, P0463) fueses, relays, and bang on the tank. Nothing works. I get the truck towed to the stealer, they drop the tank and find that the wiring harness is frayed and shorting out causing the fuel system to shut down. So, the wiring harness is on its way and I'll report back the location of the harness and where it frayed. Has anybody heard of a frayed wiring harness, I would think the factory would secure the hell out of it. But I've been wrong before.

Hello!! I am new to the forum so I hope this is the right place to put this? I have had My NV1500 for about two weeks for my business and have put a little over 2500 miles on her, great little van so far. I hope someone can help me with this, I have looked a lot online and all I can find is stuff made by etrailer that is not the least bit helpful to me. I am looking for installation instructions for the 2016 nv 1500 trailer wiring harness, the dealer threw in the hitch and harness but I cant find installation instructions for the wiring. I'm not worried about the hitch that part is obvious, but I would like to find the correct routing and connections for the wiring harness itself. I hope this is not something Nissan Keeps to themselves, also if pics are available it would be a big help. thanks!

Hey guys. new to the forum here and hoping that i could get some expert help with a wiring issue that i am having. I have a 2013 NV2500 with the V8, navigation and tow package. I pull a trailer and need reverse lights that are strong, for several reasons. I wired in 2 7" cree LED lights that i mounted under the rear bumper. I wired them to the reverse wire in the 7 pin trailer plug. Everything works great, they are bright, i am almost happy. What I am trying to do is to wire the reverse lights to a dash mounted switch, so that i can power the reverse lights without having to have the switch on and the shifter in reverse. I have the switch mounted and I found a reverse signal wire behind the radio. i wired my switch to that wire. When powered, it turns on the factory reverse lights and the backup camera, but it does not power the trailer plug reverse wire, which is the wire that I have my LED lights wired to. Can anyone tell me where the trailer plug wires are in the dash or under the hood? I followed the wire harness from the 7 way and it is routed to the passenger side under the van. It looks like it goes up to the fuse and relay box. I know that the reverse wire at the 7 way is yellow, but I tested every yellow wire in the fuse block, with no luck finding the reverse wire. I am very picky about wiring and I do not want to run a wire from my factory reverse lights, thru the cab, to my 7 way.I know that there has got to be a start location somewhere under the dash or in the engine compartment. I am not sure why the factory reverse lights would work with my new switch and not the reverse lights on the 7 way. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. CAN SOMEONE HELP????
