Repair after snow plow scraped back

Hi everyone, Happy New Years.

So with all the crazy snow up here in Tahoe the plows have been doing extra shifts, and one of them apparently doesn't know how big his shovel is.

He busted the rear drivers side lights, scraped the hinges, put a significant dent into the rear corner panel and scraped paint off.

Question: Since the inside is converted how difficult will it be to replace the full tail light? What do the mechanics need to get to?

In terms of that dent. How will they fix that? Strip paint of the panel, fill in the dent and repaint? Or will they need to replace that whole panel, which would probably be impossible with the conversion on the inside.

Please show pics of your conversion, and someone may be better able to assist you. 

8' high garage (or carport at least) is on next year's Christmas list for myself.

 

If you have your conversion covered in your own insurance, then it would be no problem.

I think it is still no problem and government entities have huge insurance policies for things just like this

(minimum wage or volunteer labor is not very skilled on the average.)

 

But if you are not 100% satisfied with the results after they defaced your perfect vehicle, I'd not hesitate in 

checking a lawyer out. I'm sure there are group legal bonus plans just for what happened to you in Tahoe.

It looked like the driver was trying to carve an apple in the snow, blind, and with a snow scrapper.

What an idiot driver and wasting your time too. That makes me mad just thinking about it. :judge:

Start at a Nissan dealership, not Reno per your service experience, body shop to get an estimate.

 

Rear panel damage is a pain to fix, but they may be able to pull it out without messing with the interior. The taillight shouldn't be a problem.

 

The hinge may look scraped but it probably is worse; it took a real jolt so make sure the door closes correctly and doesn't leak. You may have to go back to Santa Rosa for the hose test not to freeze...
