New NV2500 hightop from Encinitas, Ca

Recommended Posts

Just bought my nv last week and its build time. Anyone use the stock padding and rubber floor mat as a sub floor and lay wood over the top?

Welcome. What type of build?

No reason not to unless you want more insulation etc. Looks like SMB left it in place.

Do you have a link for SMB? Couldn't find that forum member.

Sorry. I just abbreviated Sportsmobile to SMB. They converted our cargo van. I'm surprised that NV cargo vans come with floor covering and padding since floor covering is aftermarket. I may be confusing NVs with the base model or Transit and Dodge. Do you have the S, SV or Sl.

There is a very good NV build video called Magic. It is under conversions as a link, but it is easier to find on Vimeo or YouTube.

Depending on how you are going to put down your subfloor, I would look underneath the rubber floor and padding to see what is there and not hit anything vital.

I have the Nissan NV2500SV so it has 1" of some sort of padding and 1/8" of rubber mat. My thoughts would be to use the tie downs (4) one in each corner of the van floor, to create a flange and that would lock down the floor. I would then use aluminum angle pieces where the side and back door entrances are to prevent chipping the wood.

ASD Dad, this may be the rubber mat you can use. Wonder if it shows up under NV parts? (The rear floor covering is standard on the SV version. Not clear if it is an available option on the S. this at least would give you the opportunity to see if it will work.)

Rollinghaus, have you done this before? Lots of great ideas on this site.
