Tire/Door kissing

Here's a couple pics of new American Racing 901 17" rims with Sumitomo Encounter HT 265/70/R17 tires -- the rear door now literally kisses the tire (but doesn't rub hard enough to be prohibitive).

What is the offset and width of the rims?  That will help with future members looking for tire/wheel fitment.

Sure, it's 17" x 8.5, 20 offset.  The actual model number is AR90178580720 per the installer.  -Best

By the way, would you have any idea how much $ (ballpark) one might get for the full set of 2017 OEM wheels and transforce tires (less than 500 miles on them)...?

Are you sure they didn't send the wheels with the wrong offset (0 mm offset)? I have 17x8.5, 10 mm offset and 245/70/18 tires. So my outer edge of the rim should be 10 mm closer to the door than yours and 1/2 tires width (10 mm) should compensate for the difference. So with your set-up, you should have a gap very similar to mine.

 

As you can see, the gap between the tire and the door is definitely larger than on mine than on your set-up.

Thanks for letting me know.  I can check, but as it stands I'm OK with the door "just touching" the tire.

Just installed 20's with a zero offset.

Had to shim the slider. With no washers it rubbed hard. With 3 washers it "kisses". The door and opens fine.

Tire type can change how this fits too. Some of the more aggressive tires have more "bubble" or knobbies on the edge of the sidewall than others and can touch a bit more than others.

Just curious, why did you go with a 0 offset rim when there could be issues vs. a different offset where no shimming was needed?  They look great (saw the other post) but I did not know if you had another reason for going with that offset.

1. I wanted as wide of a sta ce as possible for stability while towing. It may not make a difference but we were looking at a 36ft trailer and I was looking for every advantage...

2. I wanted the "aftermarket" look (in very picky) and I wanted to push the line as much as possible.

The owner of my local shop is a good freind and he suggested we order the set and try the fitment of one wheel/tire mounted before mounting the rest. He called the manufacturer and asked them if the fit was wrong, if we could swap for a different wheel. They said yes. And sit it all worked ( just barely) her we are,

Is that a blue NV?!? We have never seen a blue one in the wild apart from our own!! :-)

Yes it is!  I had to search far and wide for one -- ended up buying it from a dealership more than 200 miles away...

I also like the wider stance, it reduces the rollover risk if only just a bit.

Yes the Sumitomo Encounters seem to have a "bulgy" sidewall that could be the reason they touch the door so easily.  Gives it a "burly" look too.

Awesome, another blue one! :-) We did a factory order and waited nearly 5 months to receive it back in Fall 2015. Enjoy!!
