Dynamat and sound proofing

Recommended Posts

Here is a list of items purchased and installed in order to vastly reduced wind and road noise.

I dynamatt all the doors and side panels. I did not mess with the fire wall. This is a sat afternoon project that will take 3-5 hours.

Do you have any pictures of the interior install?

Did you put anything under hood?

Nothing under the hood. I could see doing the firewall sometime but that seems like it would be a major pain. If you really wanted "lexus" quiet you would pull all panels and carpet and the entire dash and cover every inch. However..... " ain't nobody got time for that"!!

No pics at the moment, I'll pull a panel and snap a pic or two to give an idea.

I added a lot of rattle proofing and sound deadening....I don't think I can ever get it to be quiet, but then again it's a Beast with huge windows and a huge rack on top catching air...

cypress ...yes.  takes some time, but worth it.  also, get new speakers and put the rattle stuff around the speakers so they have more bass and don't rattle.  Also on the wheel wells and floor boards...you can get a bit crazy if you keep going.  I drove across the state with all the insulation off and we could not even hear each other speak it was so loud...night and day with it all on.

I’m about ready to do some sound deadening also. In addition to the fatmat/dynamat has anyone filled voids with spray foam?

I was going to throw some spray foam in the mix, but didn’t know if anyone had done it?
