ASD Dad Posted January 10, 2018 Is this site dead lately or what?? I think we get 1 or 2 posts a day lately with maybe a few more on the weekend. Hate to say it but go check out the NV Family page on FB. They have a lot of daily posts with a lot of feedback per post. Problems, questions, statements, doesnt matter - people read and respond quickly. You dont have the camper conversions which are more popular here and you cant do something like a build thread but if you have a general question I would honestly go ask there if you dont see an answer here. 2 brianmcgovern and Mark Rogers reacted to this
radin2son Posted January 10, 2018 You have to be willing to put up with FB. The main issue besides the snooze feature is lack of response from those that post questions and never get back. 1 andy_george reacted to this
ASD Dad Posted January 10, 2018 This site just doesnt get the exposure or took off. There are way more members on the FB page and most are active. Not sure if they just like FB better or maybe they dont know about this site. There are always questions and other various info being posted vs. fluff FB posts. Problem is they get buried and its impossible to find info then. Oh well. I post there way more than here these days. There is nothing to post here! radin2son Posted January 11, 2018 I still like this site, much more than the VW Tiguan owners’ forum. The is such a thing as too many posts. I wish there was more campervan participation, not just builds but travel. Sportsmobile has a forum that is 4x4 Ford and Sprinter oriented. Even though we have a Sportsmobile NV, it was not well received by the moderators and many members to put it mildly. The last time I posted was at 50,000 miles and will post again at 100,000 miles. There are plenty of campervan/van life blogs, primarily VWs. We’ve done that...
Alaskan Posted January 11, 2018 There can be some useful info there, but more here and also followup. And as radin2son mentioned, the FB thing. Too many stories about how many kids they can pack into an NV. Lots of pics of 9 kids, who can afford that now days? It is also a slow time, getting back to school, etc.. I don't see the NV listed on the Sportsmobile website, how did you get yours radin2son?
radin2son Posted January 11, 2018 In 2012, SMB West built 30 and sold them through 8-10 Nissan commercial dealerships. We bought ours in 2012 and picked it up at SMB West in Fresno before it was delivered to the dealership. SMB in Austin built a few as well. Terrible business model. There have been a few custom builds as well. It may simply be that loyalty of Ford and MB owners keeps SMB in business. Don't see the Ram van doing this. So far, only one used one has appeared. A custom NV standard top with no penthouse has been for sale for awhile. $56,000. 1 Alaskan reacted to this
ASD Dad Posted January 11, 2018 The Penthouse top is what makes it so cool! 1 Alaskan reacted to this
radin2son Posted January 12, 2018 The SMB NV that sold was a high top. Low mileage and went for $41,000. Great deal. I still don’t get the idea behind the custom standard top without a PH. It even has a dedicated internal shower and portable toilet.
laharview Posted February 16, 2018 I think a section where we can post our NV travels to would be cool. Pros and Cons of sites/areas.
radin2son Posted February 17, 2018 (edited) This isn’t news. Without NVPs and campervans, posts would be nonexistent. A NVP travel blog would be great. Edited February 17, 2018 by radin2son 1 laharview reacted to this
