Do I need a lift kit?

Recommended Posts

I run a 2017 3500NVP SL and I have read through all the post on wheels and tires. I am ready to make the purchase and I am looking at Monster Energy 20x9 rims with Cooper ST Max 285 60R 20s. My tire guy told me today that his dealer says I would need a lift kit for such a large setup, any advise would be much appreciated, thx

If you do, lift kit options are limited to Advanced 4x4 Vans in SLC, UT and perhaps Quigley nearer you. There is a post/review of the Advanced kit that was shipped and installed. “2 inch lift” under Brakes, Chassis, Suspension.

Thank You for the help, I would really like to keep it stock suspension, do you have any advice on what wheel setup would be a safe bet?

You’re welcome. I don’t as I tend to keep vehicles stock. There are many posts regarding wheel and tire combinations. One issue you’ll find is side door clearance with an easy solution.

I have stock suspension. For Nissan van, the most common limitation is the gap between the sliding door and the tires.

I opted for American Outlaw Bunker (17x8.5, 10 mm offset) and GoodYear DuraTrac 275/75/18. Personally I would not go with any wider wheels or ones with more aggressive offset. You see the gap between the sliding door and the tires?
