Miles-Kevin Baron Posted August 26, 2018 Hi everyone, Added a 2018 NV200 a few months ago and LOVE it !! I guess now I have a fleet !!! NV2500, NV200 for the biz and I drive a 350z and the other half has an Armada. Anyway, my Nav/Audio system keeps trying to "update". This is RANDOM!! and annoying. I can be sitting not doing anything, I can be driving, happens every couple or three days, but honestly, who knows what's happening when I'm not looking because the vehicle does NOT need to be running. Basically what happens is I get the System Initialization screen, then it goes to Status: Update Failed. Insert media, System is shutting down. Copying 0/100. After this, there will be a 60 second countdown. and it will reboot. It will do this I believe 3 times before the system becomes useable. This takes 30 to 45 minutes. I have been to the dealer once and they "updated" the system. I did notice some road changes on the way home, so they did indeed at least update the MAP. I will post a screen shot if I can of what it looks like.Any ideas ????? 1 radin2son reacted to this
Miles-Kevin Baron Posted August 26, 2018 Just an update, I found a Technical Service Bulletin for 2016/2017 that addresses this, but no 2018 TSB. The 2016/2017 bulletin requires a dealer online USB stick, which I don't think applies to 2018 as there is no place to plug a USB stick in... at least not visibly. :( Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. 1 radin2son reacted to this
radin2son Posted August 27, 2018 (edited) Check the date on the nav card. Most likely the card that came with your NV is a 2016/2017. Even if a 2018 card exists, the dealer is not likely to have one on hand. Looks like another trip back to the dealer for the TSB. Is this TSB NV200 specific? I’d be surprised as the nav unit is car based. Have them pull a card, samedate as yours, from another new vehicle on the lot and see if it works any better. Actually, the card won’t be in the vehicle; rather, it will be in a drawer with a bunch of other cards... Just check the date. Maybe parts number as well as there are 2 versions. You should have the post 2014 card. When I installed an updated card after 5 years, none of the screens appeared as described in the set up instructions. Since it didn’t say update failed I could only assume it uploaded. The only way to tell was what you noticed, road changes. What warranty does the NV200 have and can any dealer work on it? You may have to push for a nav replacement, new card and unit. Edited August 27, 2018 by radin2son
Miles-Kevin Baron Posted August 27, 2018 The card doesn't seem to have a date, but it does seem to be the latest based on pictures of 2018 cards. It seems they dropped the date for 2018. 1 radin2son reacted to this
radin2son Posted August 28, 2018 It may be that the older version has a date. I would still have the dealer try another card as well as try yours in another vehicle. This should be simple warranty work. Get the service manager involved. If that fails, get Commercial Customer Service involved. You will have to do this by phone, unless they changed the process and made it the same as car customer service.
Miles-Kevin Baron Posted August 28, 2018 I have an appointment again next week. They have a guy that's supposed to be an expert on the system, but he's out until next week. I'll post if we figure it out. I like your suggestion of swapping cards. The issue is the reboot is random, so it may take a few days to know if fixed. 2 radin2son and Mark Rogers reacted to this
