LOFT Posted May 16, 2020 Greetings, BLUF: From reliability and maintenance cost standpoint, which is better? The old port injected V8s or the new DIG V8s? Has anyone had any issues (carbon buildup, etc) with the direct injection? New to the forum. I am looking at buying a Nissan NVP for the Family. I plan on putting a lot of miles on this vehicle over the next 10 years. Reliability and maintenance cost is more important to me than fuel consumption. The old port injected V8s are rock solid and I still can find a few with low miles. Both transmissions appear to have minimal issues. Thanks for your input. radin2son Posted May 16, 2020 Older V8 reliability hasn’t been an issue. Same for transmission. Emissions somewhat, but relatively minor. Catalytic converter replacement for a few at under 80k. Titan forum may offer “more” info. You should be able to get lots of miles over 10 years. If it already isn’t a technological dinosaur, it will be a well running one in 10 years.
