5.6 skips and no power in wet conditions

Recommended Posts

I have 2014 NV 2500 HD High Roof w/5.6. When it rains, the engine will intermittently skip and loose power. When the road conditions dry, the running issue is not present. I have run an engine scan every time it happens and it does not throw a code and the check engine light is not on. I have also replaced the battery and negative cable. All the visible ground connections, wiring harness connectors have been inspected. Nothing visible is loose or appears to be corroded. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what was the repair?

Might be something in the traction control circuit.  Sensor or computer issue.  Have you looked at the wheel sensors?  Easiest/cheapest thing to fix.  Also, any rodent excrement on top of your engine?  Chewed wire could be in play.

I've checked them all. I replaced a right rear ABS sensor 2 years ago but that was because a tire chain loosened and ripped the connector and wire out of the sensor. It did have a light then but no lights or codes are visible now. I inspected all the harnesses on top of the engine, etc. I've sprayed water on top and underneath the engine when it's running in hopes of creating the issue but it won't do it. I do notice the tach drops to almost zero  momentarily and the volt meter fluctuates when this happens. I was thinking it could be a ground or positive connection but there is no loose or corroded connections visible. If it's not under a load when it's wet, the issue isn't there. I may have to have Nissan plug in to it and see if their diagnostic machine can find anything.  It does have 197,000 miles on it in New England but the situation is annoying.
