It's a personal vehicle and I wanted the high towing capacity with walk-in secure storage (as compared to pickup w/topper). So the question... am I making a mistake considering a vehicle that I know is going to be discontinued? They certainly are hard to find and being bought up quick... aztec Posted February 18, 2021 Economics notwithstanding, buying a van is like buying a house. You put a lot of money into buying it, and you have to live with it every day. radin2son Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) More and more are visible on the road. Suspect small businesses want a tough truck. No reason not to buy one if it meets your needs. A bigger issue, since it is a personal vehicle, will be rear seats if you need them. If that is the case, you may need to go with a Transit. Even though aztec may roll his eyes, dealer service may be an issue for you. Currently, only commercial dealers can service NVs. Hard to find in some states. SeaLaVie Posted February 19, 2021 I'm a little concerned about the warranty work by licensed dealers only, but willing to live with that. My biggest concern with the transit is the lower towing capacity and higher price combination. I will up size my travel trailer in a few years and want to get the right vehicle now to handle something in the 7000+ range. I love the transit mid roof but not the rest of it... radin2son Posted February 19, 2021 Very little has gone wrong with these trucks/vans since 2012 when we bought ours. Parts and independent service shouldn’t be an issue in the future. Not it sure how Nissan will handle service and warranty work. It may work out that all dealerships are available.
