NV2500 Using Coolant - Bad Head Gasket?

Hi Everyone,

 

Our company has a 2012 NV2500 with about 32k miles that we use for deliveries.  Love the van, but have been having an issue lately.   

 

It has started using coolant (not to the point it oveheats becuase it has been topped off, but enough that the reservior empties every 1000 miles or so). 

 

I see no leaks, no white smoke, but it seems like there is a lot of water that drips out the tailpipe. 

 

Also, the underside of the oil filler cap looks "milky" like the head gasket might be leaking. 

 

The dealer swears up and down that there are no issues.  All they want to do it top off the coolant. 

 

But I see no way that a van less than 2 years old should be using ANY coolant, let alone this much. 

 

Any thoughts or similar experiences?

What engine do you have in the NV.  I had a similar situation in a previous Titan with the 5.6 V8 and the engine let go around 25k miles.  They said the same thing just to keep filling the coolant.  The replacement engine went 240k mile before a similar situation.  Would defiantly make an issue out of it with the dealer prior to the warranty expiration.  New 5.6 V8 cost 8-10k!!

Our van has the 4.0 V6.

 

When did they finally agree to replace the engine? 

 

We are pretty upset that a vehicle this new is having a problem like this.  Is this a common issue?

Any more thoughts on this?  I am supposed to go back to the dealer next week and would like to be as informed as possible.
