pgdsailor@aol.com Posted November 19, 2022 Have the above Nissan..thinking about an increase in wheel size to 18" and change tire size....or stick with original 17" wheels and change the tire size...Any comments/suggestions..REASON: I believe it will increase fuel MPG. Just my opinion.
crusty Posted November 19, 2022 Tread pattern will change fuel economy, wheel size won't. Tire size will change odometer accuracy which will appear to change fuel economy. A larger overall diameter will probably reduce economy but since the odometer will be under reporting mileage you may see an increase in apparent economy. 3 radin2son, Builder and pgdsailor@aol.com reacted to this
pgdsailor@aol.com Posted November 19, 2022 THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY....APPRECIATE THE ANALYSIS...FYI; PUT SNOW TIRES ON 16' WHEELS FROM 17' HIGHWAY TIRES ON MY OTHER VEHICLE AND THE MPG WENT DOWN 6 MPG.....THAT'S WHY I ASKED. ALL THE BEST.
