Cotswoldstony Posted February 15, 2023 Hi, it's time to replace my NV200 tyres 175/70/14 C T95 load (650 Kg) which I think are 6 ply rating...I tow a trailer/caravan at times and carry some heavy solar batteries sometimes. I am looking at upgrading them to a higher spec more popular commercial van/trailer tyres and found on UK caravan/trailers the tyre size is 185/80 14 C !00/102 load (800 Kg) 8 ply rating.... Just 10mm wider and 10m tyre depth larger which I think would be fine any feed back good or bad would be nice to hear.
crusty Posted February 16, 2023 You would need to find local information. That size was never offered on the Mexico built NV200s that were the ones shipped to the North American market. Finding any 14" tire in North America is nearly impossible these days. Asking for one with a high load rating just doesn't happen.
Local Apparent Friday Posted February 18, 2023 I run 10 ply on the full size 3500 at 80 pounds, all four corners. A little stiffer ride, but otherwise no real noticeable difference, although it takes me a lot longer to air down for the beach. Here, BFGs come in a 10 ply and are fine for towing, I guess like crusty said, you just have to take a look around at what's offered.
