radin2son Posted October 23, 2014 Anyone able to get any info on whether or not NVs are affected by this recall? Looks like the US senate may get involved to get the industry to fix this now. Senate involvement may be a good thing or not...
Chris_CommercialManager Posted October 27, 2014 My service dept tells me as of this moment it has nothing to do with NV, and to elaborate further it's really only affected older nissans up to about the year 2004. Going forward who knows.
radin2son Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) It may include 2008 models according to a "public service" let us help you get replacements ad. 11/6 The other part of this not immediately mentioned in media reports was that those affected already received their recall notice. Too many airbags need replacing, so the industry came up with their high humidity index. Those in high humidity climates get theirs replaced first. Brilliant. Would you really want this company to have anything to do with your vehicle? Are they still putting them in new vehicles? Not enough to know that the airbag detonator manufacturing company will not be paying a dividend this year. 4 deaths related to this and the only consequence so far is no dividend. vanguy Posted October 29, 2014 I read it has to do with only certain areas, those with high humidity. Don't understand how humidity affects it cause I didn't read the whole article.
radin2son Posted December 2, 2017 Over 3 years since this came up... Received notice of settlement of class action suit against Takata and Nissan. A match came up for our NV. May or may not be subject to recall. No way to know if we have a problem. Age and humidity are not a factor here, but I did see a map that puts AZ into the second most prone area. Heat probably... If you didn’t get this in the mail and are curious, go to www.autoairbagsettlement.com I received a similar notice regarding our 2017 VW. Not on the recall list. It’s possible that newer NVs are not on the list as well. 1 Alaskan reacted to this
trdriver71 Posted December 14, 2017 Maybe they didn't use the takata airbags in the nv that may be why it didn't get recalled.
radin2son Posted December 15, 2017 Recalls appear to be based on vehicle age and location, primarily because the problem is too widespread and too few and no problem free airbag replacements. I don’t doubt that all NVs have the problem Takata airbags. Eventually our NVs will be recalled. I read somewhere that these air bags are still being installed to buy time. Probably safe enough.
