Sliding door handle is stuck in "squeezed in"

I have a 2017 NV 200 as a work van.  Someone closed the driver side sliding door too hard in the handle is stuck in what I would call the "squeezed in" position.  Meaning you can't squeeze the handle to open it because it is stuck like that.  The handle on the inside works fine, so I reach from the driver door to use the inside handle.  How do you fix this?  Thanks.

Remove the inside door panel, you'll see a metal bracket holding the wire that activates the opening of the door, Bent the bracket backwards a bit. If this doesn't work Maybe the door handle is broken... Easily and cheap to replace.
