Mountweasel Posted December 31, 2024 I'm looking for a used engine for my 2017 NV passenger van, 5.6 engine. One salvage has a low-miles 5.6 engine from a 2017 titan pickup, but another (higher-priced) lot tells me that a titan engine is different and won't work. Anyone know what's involved in installing a Titan 5.6 engine in my NV3500 passenger van? If it's just a question of swapping valve covers and external accessories, then it doesn't scare me. But, if the titan engine is different internally, then I'll have to cough up the extra money for a NV engine.
Local Apparent Friday Posted December 31, 2024 I covered this extensively in my thread. Oil pan and cooler, timing cover and accessories. Read through it and let me know if you have any questions.
Mountweasel Posted December 31, 2024 Thanks, I was hoping this topic had been covered. Pardon my ignorance, but how do I get to the thread that contains this info?

There's the post(s) in question. I will reply separately to your DMs and may copy/paste here for other's reference. Sorry for not linking the post in my original reply...I was on my phone and it's more difficult to find references. - laf
Local Apparent Friday Posted January 1 (edited) @Mountweasel coffee just kicked in and I realized you are '17+. Your mileage may vary...all my experience was on a (NV)first gen engine. I wouldn't expect too much of a difference, but it's worth checking some part numbers. The engine will still work, it's just a question of if the same stuff I swapped still has to be swapped. - laf Edit: I just cross referenced some p/ns on the hart nissan site, and all the things that I had to swap are actually the same (at least on the computer) between the new gen engines. So you *may* actually have a 1:1 swap on your hands, but you'll be the first to find out. Keep us posted. I would just plan on allowing yourself time to have to order parts if you get in there and find it is not the case.
