Will 265/70/17 fit on a 2014 NV 3500HD non lifted Quigley 4x4?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm purchasing a 2014 NVC 3500 with the non lifted Quigley 4X4.  I was wanting to change from the stock size 245/75/17 to 265/70/17.  Any one running this size?  Thanks,

There's zero reason it won't. They're the exact same size in diameter and the 265 is only about 3/4" wider total so less than half an inch per side.

Thanks for the reply.  That's what the spec I read showed.  The tires are about the same price so I think I'd prefer the wider tread.

KMG did you go with these tires?  I am getting 265/70/17E Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos installed next week and wondering if you had to have speedo recalibrated?

Yes I did and I'm very pleased with my tires.  4,000 miles with zero issues.  I didn't have my speedo adjusted. According to a separate GPS unit, my speedo is correct at 60 mph.  According to Tire Rack, the Bridgestone Revo II rotates 658 times per mile.  The Duratrac rotates 657 and the stock 245/75/17 Firestone Transforce HT rotates 661 times. The 2500 has a 245/70/17 that rotates 683 times.   Not much difference to me.  Is the stock tire/speedo combo correct?  Do they reprogram the speedo for the stock tire differences?

What tires did you go with?  I am not a big fan of the Transforce tires I have.  The tread likes to grab and throw gravel when we're camping.

Mine are Goodyear's Duratrac 265/70/17E.  To me the tread is very quiet with super traction.  Be aware that they grab and throw gravel also.

Thanks for letting me know.  I guess I wouldnt mind the gravel so much if I had better traction.  If it is the least bit wet they dont grab anything.  I figure MPG is pretty much a non-issue with these big vans so a more aggressive tread could be a nice upgrade.  The Transforce are designed for long wear and being quiet which is good but I need better traction at times.

I had the Transforce on a different truck and knew I didn't want it again.  I paid the dealer the difference and had the Goodyears installed.  I've also had great luck with Michelin's LTX A/T2s.

Wanted to update this.  I went with 265/70-17 Hankook Dynapro ATM all terrain tires.  We have a lot of construction going on with our roads and hit a piece of concrete that punched a hole in my Transforce.  Instead of replacing I went with 5 Hankooks (always want the spare to match size/type if I can).

They get awesome reviews online and even won top spot in some tire tests. They are VERY squirmy feeling right now.  I have about 400 miles on them and they still feel a little greasy.  The Transforce tracked much better and cornered better.  I even had my alignment redone for free to see if maybe I had some toe-out issues.  All is in spec.  I am guessing it is just the deep, soft lugs.  When I had BFG KO2's on my Tundra I didnt notice this issue though.  I almost went with the BFG's on the NV but they were $350 more.

I am curious how these feel when towing.  I have a big tow coming up in one month (9 hours to FL - WDW!) so it could be interesting.  If my van is squirming all over the place with the heavy load I may be taking these off.  The reviewers had these tires on 1T trucks and towing with no issues so I am not sure what is going on.  Pressure is OK, already checked that.

They DO have way more traction than the Transforce.  Those would slip on dew covered grass or wet roads.  I purposely found some loose sand and wet clay and these did great.

Every symptom you described sounds like an under inflated tire issue but you have checked that.  I had a set of Firestone Destination MT that you could feel the rear get squirrelly with 2 psi less.  Good luck.

I have a set of AT-m PF10 Kooks on my Nissan Frontier pro4x in a LT285/75E R16 and was thinking about running a set on the NV in a LT275/70E R17 when the stockers wear out even if I have to bump it 2" or so. In my wacky measurements and guesstimations, limited hack and wack would be necessisary if any. The main concern would be the slider door but I'm keeping stock rims so I should be able to squeeze them in. I run almost exclusively on desert dirt roads and these tires have great gription in these conditions.

My Kooks have definitely settled down in the squirm department.  They still dont track as well as a true ribbed highway tire like the Transforce but they are way better than they were when new.  No AT tire with deep lugs will track like a ribbed tire but these have definitely broken in nicely.  I am quite happy with them, especially for when we are camping.  Towing with them was a non-issue as well.  We didnt make it to WDW (tropical storm cancelled those plans) but we did go camping about 6 hours away and there was a lot of sand and loose gravel to deal with daily.  The tires did great.
