CarlS1973 Posted August 21, 2015 I'm considering buying the OEM side molding from a seller on eBay - just wondering if folks like the looks of it, how it holds up, and whether it has served any purpose. The big flat sides do seem like they are begging for a door/cart ding, so I'm leaning towards doing it unless someone suggests that I don't. :)
NVP Posted August 21, 2015 I did the same thing a few months ago. The molding is hardly noticeable on my black NVP. The cost of fixing a small dent would be crazy on panels this size so that's why I did it as well.
RICK Posted August 22, 2015 I think its worth it. Please tell us how simple or involved it's to install. Double sided tape? Rick.
NVP Posted August 22, 2015 I did it flawlessly in about 20 minutes. Just hold the molding against vehicle and then peel small sections of the green wax paper strip off the back while holding in place. Helps to have another person hold the other end when you start . andy_george Posted August 22, 2015 I'd like a strip, but I thought chromed plastic would be best to match the mirror caps and the doorhandles on the SL. Does anyone know where to get a high-quality stick-on chrome molding? 1 Chris_CommercialManager reacted to this
CarlS1973 Posted August 24, 2015 I'm not as crazy about the "look" on my blue NV vs. a black one where it would blend right in. But hearing how easy it was to install, and for the relatively low cost, I'm going to go for it. I appreciate the advice - thanks!

Does anyone know where to get a high-quality stick-on chrome molding? I agree! I however have not really had too much luck with chromed plastic, especially in your winter climate with that salt :/ Not in the salt of the midwest but near the ocean I remember one time about 4 years ago...I had an H2 SUV to pull my boat around. I went out of town for two months and left it in the driveway at my home is Carlsbad (about 1 block from the Ocean). I returned home to find about 5 thousand dollars of damage the truck. I simply couldn't believe it. The chrome wheels, handle covers, hood vent covers, etc etc etc were all destroyed and pitted. I had not seen anything like it. The only chrome that survived was the stuff from the factory, plastic and metal. Everything aftermarket with no exception was trashed. I have pictures somewhere, if I find them I'll post them :/ Edited August 24, 2015 by Chris_CommercialManager
