Bates Posted August 31, 2015 Well here's a little interesting story. They are tinkering with the diesel in the NV. http://www.tfltruck.com/2015/08/going-to-airport-in-nissan-nv-prototype-with-the-5-0l-v8-cummins-first-impression/ 1 CarlS1973 reacted to this

ASD Dad Posted August 31, 2015 Wonder if it will happen. My guess is not anytime soon, the new Titan hasnt even hit dealers lots yet and I still havent seen pricing. No way they are going to steal the thunder of a brand new vehicle from the ground up with a first ever motor in it. If it does happen and if the upcharge isnt insane like they are with domestics than my NV will be traded in! One nice thing, by the time the motor makes it to the NV (if it does) most of the kinks should be worked out by the Titan drivers!
Bates Posted August 31, 2015 Titan XD always was scheduled for December release....No pricing. No order guide, no dealer training as of yet. A slow launch to be sure. I'll be picking up a Titan XD prototype tomorrow to show some fleet customers. Quite excited for that. I drove a pre-production prototype around the streets of Edmonton once before (a yellow SS camero about 7 months before launch) and it was a fun experience. Had people chasing me around waving me to pull over. I don't think putting a diesel in a cargo van would be a thunder stealer. More like the truck will landand Nissan will be advertising "hey here's a new spiffy pickup truck" and then as an afterthought "oh, btw we put the same engine in the vans". But knowing Nissan it would take them 6 months after release of the truck to get it done anyways so very little danger of concurrent new engines. (just speculation though). 1 Chris_CommercialManager reacted to this
Chris_CommercialManager Posted August 31, 2015 That is very very interesting bates. Have you reached out to your rep about that van? I just did, wonder if he even knows about it.....I'd assume so!
Bates Posted August 31, 2015 I sent a copy over to him so we'll see what he says.
Bates Posted August 31, 2015 Rep just emailed back "News to me but thanks for sending it in…!"
radin2son Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) First let me say that neither I or April Fuel had anything to do with this if it is a hoax. It, however, makes perfect sense. The NV has the frame you need for the newly developed diesel for the new Titan. Isn't the frame the same? Install it first in the NV, and it's ready for long term testing by Cummins, not Nissan. So Nissan reps wouldn't necessarily know. I bet that diesel NV has a lot of real world miles on it. Meanwhile, Nissan was testing their prototype Titan independent of Cummins but sharing info... Although it looks like a good fit, I think the info Chris and Bates had earlier about no diesels for NVs remains in effect. Bates Posted September 1, 2015 I just drove an XD for about 100km, quite a nice engine forthcoming. Would be a good addition to the NV to be sure!
Chris_CommercialManager Posted September 2, 2015 Well, had another convo with rep. He can't really acknowledge a lot. It seems there are some within Nissan that have a diesel on the priority list. From a sales aspect I don't understand that. I can combat the need the need for a diesel if I get someone in 9 times out of 10 but if someone comes in looking for an extended or cut away I have nothing to offer. Those two options to me would be a much smarter choice for sales and our limited resources and production space on the commercial side of Nissan and at the plant.
