dammitjim Posted September 1, 2015 Yup, my wife just paid $30 for a set to replace the windshield wiper refills on our 2014 NV3500HD. I know I should have told her to do some research, but $15 for each refill? Is that normal? I think I saw that Advanced Auto Parts online has them for like $5 each.Whatever happened to 3 for $15? 1 Bamps reacted to this

radin2son Posted September 2, 2015 I paid $24.60 to have them replaced when getting service at Nissan. Better blades than oem, although the part # 28890-1PA0A may be the same. Was at IKEA in Phoenix yesterday where they have lunch for $4.99, furniture not included. Got out of town just before that crazy storm hit... 1 Bamps reacted to this

Chris Dempsey Posted September 2, 2015 I was going to replace the wipers on my daughter’s Civic when I found out they were $40 +\-. Didn’t happen. 1 Bamps reacted to this
ASD Dad Posted September 2, 2015 My Tundra from the dealer was around $50 for both. Not happening! They have the newer beam style wipers. Go online and look up Trico Exact Fit replacements. Lots of places sell them. They fit like OEM (they make a lot of the OEM) and cost a fraction of a dealer. Amazon runs specials all the time with buy one get one free deals. They mount right up without needing adapters or anything else silly, they are literally the OEM replacement. 1 Bamps reacted to this
radin2son Posted September 2, 2015 Funny, but we were there to figure out how much IKEA furniture we could fit in a 5'x8' Uhaul trailer if in the future we go with an apartment rental somewhere as a base camp. If the label said "particle board" we moved on, and we moved on a lot. We were in Tucson when we replaced the wiper blades, but we were in FL getting service when told they should be replaced at the next service. The new blades work great and haven't dry rotted in this desert heat. I wouldn't hesitate to have a dealer replace them again while traveling. I wonder if they can be found at non-commercial dealers. 1 Bamps reacted to this
Chris_CommercialManager Posted September 2, 2015 $50 for wiper blades is outrageous. $30 is normal for a good set of blades, even from walmart maybe $25 1 Bamps reacted to this
dammitjim Posted September 2, 2015 Are we talking about new wiper blades or new wiper blade refills? I conside the wiper blades to be the whole arm and the refills just the rubber piece. 1 Bamps reacted to this
radin2son Posted September 2, 2015 Refills based on what mine look like; dealer service installed them. Look exactly like refills, only plastic not metal inboad clips/tabs to hold them in place, that I put on other cars. The problem is reaching them. This might be difficult. Climb on the hood? 1 Bamps reacted to this
dammitjim Posted May 30, 2017 So, I just got the wiper inserts... 288951PA0A but they don't fit the blade!!!Could it be that the last time we got the "wiper blades" replaced, they replaced the whole assembly with a different type? The inserts I picked up are the skinny inserts and the ones that are on the vehicle have this metal backing. I'll take pictures later on tonight and show you guys to make sure I'm not making crazy assumptions.Any feedback is appreciated. I was able to get the inserts for like $6.50 each. 1 Bamps reacted to this
radin2son Posted May 30, 2017 Go to O'Reilly Auto Parts; the options are endless. OEM is close to the bottom and for about the dealer price you get a much better blade. They also will install them, but it is easy enough to do it yourself as long as you can reach them. Ignore what I posted about letting the dealer do it. I noticed one was split when packing For a trip. Drove over in our car with one in hand expecting a choice of one...
dammitjim Posted May 31, 2017 Ugh, I really hate to do that, but I guess that's the nature of where wiper blades are now. Refills are gone :( I was talking to someone the other day and they said they get their refills from Costco. I guess they bought the blade that can use refills... 1 Bamps reacted to this
ASD Dad Posted May 31, 2017 Costco doesnt sell refills, they sell complete blades by Goodyear that are utter garbage now. They used to be a single piece beam blade that were halfway decent, especially for price. Now they are a segmented blade with the same price. They streak and chatter within weeks. Rad is right, go to any parts store - O Reilly. Advance, AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc and they almost always have a set on sale. Amazon does as well if you prefer online. You can go higher end like Bosch Micro Edge or just get something cheap and replace more often. I am just using cheap Trico Exact Fit blades and they're working well even with the really wet year we've been having. 2 radin2son and Bamps reacted to this
dammitjim Posted June 1, 2017 Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go Trico as well.. so I guess I'm looking at somewhere around $10 a piece, so $20 a year in blades...
Bamps Posted June 9, 2017 I gotta do both my Nissans (Frontier & NV) before monsoon season in a couple weeks. I buy the replacements from O'reilly too. For those complaining about the price; here in the desert with 100+ degrees (F) heat, the blades only last a yr maybe two if you have a garage, (i dont) 2 radin2son and ASD Dad reacted to this
