nv2500sl Posted February 28, 2016 My 2016 speedometer is reading 4 to 8 miles per hour faster than actual at all speeds. Has anyone noticed this on there's, can the speedo be recalibrated through a dealer?
ASD Dad Posted February 29, 2016 It shouldnt be all speeds, it should be a ratio or curve. Faster you go the more off it is. All factory speedos read fast and have as long as I have measured them. They are WAY off on motorcycles! Some older speedos were only off 1-2mph though. When I am going an indicated 70mph on the speedo my GPS is reading around 66-67 with the NV. I think it is an industry standard honestly. Keeps you from getting more tickets or you think vehicle is faster than it is... 1 andy_george reacted to this
andy_george Posted March 1, 2016 What ASD Dad said is right on. We had sport bikes for years, and they were notorious for being 10-12mph off on the top end. Just normal.... 1 ASD Dad reacted to this
KMG Posted March 2, 2016 To me it's an industry standard because they only have to cover about 47,000 actual miles driven when ones 50,000 mile warranty expires. 2 wollip and andy_george reacted to this
nv2500sl Posted March 2, 2016 Thanks for the input. Mine seems to be on the high side...there's a speedo shop in town that will read actuals at varying speeds and recalibrate. I'll post results if I visit them.
