Dustin Anderson Posted March 31, 2016 Hi fellow NV-ers. I am going to rebuild my shelving and am considering sound deadening possibilities. The only thread I could find in this forum was from 4 years ago. Dynamat will cost over 800 CDN....which is more of a commitment than I am willing to make at this stage. But it seems that lower cost options won't last or will smell to high heaven. I am thinking I might do it over time. Where would be the best places to start? Wheel wells....roof? OR is there a decent product that one of you has used that won't melt, or asphyxiate? Thanks, Dustin

wollip Posted March 31, 2016 I used GTMAT sourced thru eBay. No noticeable smell and bonds well to a clean surface. Just be sure to roll it in well. I covered the entire floor including wheel wells. The sidewalls and ceiling do not need complete coverage. Just space out 6"x6" or so pieces wherever it is convenient. Do the same inside the slider and rear doors. The results are amazing. wollip Posted March 31, 2016 It's been installed for 2.5 yrs. Unfortunately, the van sits outside exposed to any weather Arkansas can throw at it - which includes a lot of high humidity. I'd use GTMAT again. Price was okay and I was more than pleased with the results. Insulation - now that's another can of worms. Opinions and preferences flying every which way. nv2500sl Posted April 1, 2016 Just finished sound deadening and insulating. Used Lizard skin...pricey and takes considerable time to spray on but seems to do the job. Used spray foam in vans for years but it takes up wall and ceiling space and you couldn't do the floor. 1 Dustin Anderson reacted to this
Chris_CommercialManager Posted April 8, 2016 I've used FatMat, purchased off of amazon on all of my vehicles over the years. My one mustang has seen winters in Chicago and summers in the deserts of CA (palm springs) in regular 110+ temps. Never has a piece pulled off or smelled funny. 1 Dustin Anderson reacted to this
Mdsnyder108 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) I used Noico adhesive mat directly on the metal with automotive Thinsulate on top. No smell at all and I'm sensitive to that. Automotive Thinsulate also helps with sound deadening. Noico gets the low frequency and Thinsulate gets the higher stuff. Check both Amazon and eBay. Sounds like a luxury car now.
