I haven't had to troubleshoot my A/C system but looking at the service manual the A/C compressor relay is part of the what's called the IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module engine room) located under the hood behind the battery. The service manual says "IPDM E/R integrated relays are not serviceable parts and must not be removed from the unit". There is a 10A fuse in the A/C relay circuit located in the IPDM box labeled as F8. (see service manual pages PCS-25, HAC-147 and PCS-13) Perhaps just need to replace the fuse? Or the magnetic clutch on the compressor is bad? Hope this helps for what its worth. I have attached the service manual pages in case you don't have access to the factory service manual. Would recommend you download it if you do much work on your van. It is posted somewhere on this site but don't remember where offhand. Good luck. PCS-13.pdf PCS-25.pdf HAC-147.pdf

Forgot to mention that our NV isn’t a daily driver, so over time psi goes down when parked. Another thing to check before traveling.

I have a 2017 NV3500. My AC stopped working suddenly. I had the freon checked and with the engine off it was 70 on high and low side. The Clutch on the compressor is not engaging. My next step was to change the relay for the clutch but I cannot find it. Can anyone help with this??

I have a small air compressor to add air, primarily rear tires, when it gets significantly colder at home and when traveling. Trips from AZ to almost anywhere are cooler… The compressor hose threads onto the valve. Works on 3 but the 4th lets air escape when threading or blows off entirely. Parts are no longer available. Simple solution was to buy steel valve extensions. (Buy a package of 4 as 2 wouldn’t thread on properly and leaked air.) Thread on the extender first, then the hose and start the compressor. My experience with gas station pumps is that they are for cars.

What a difference new “house” batteries make. No worries about charging during a 4 day stay on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. East entrance off US 89 (at Cameron on the Navajo Nation) lets you avoid long delays at the south entrance. Adds 50 miles but the drive is worth it. Stayed 1 night at Homolovi State Park. Needed a shower and sunset was spectacular.

Was just watching Hoovie's Garage. They are fixing a Hellcat. The entire engine build is on hold because they can't get a set of rings. Something that should be easy to get on a late model hemi. The cam was scarce and had to pay extra for one of the few that could be found. Parts are just hard to get.
-
Hmm very interesting, thank you for sharing that. I guess that makes me feel less alone. I emailed the Nissan dealership I ordered some interior panels and a fog light switch from 2 weeks ago (emailed them 2 days ago), and so far no response.

Not just these vans. Every vehicle is having these issues. Trying to remember the part, but a co-worker was quoted a 14-month backorder for some common part. I think it was a chevy. Insurance is totaling fairly minor damage vehicles simply because they can't get the parts to fix them.

There may be some cross model, Armada and Titan, parts that will work. There also are totaled NVs for donor parts.

I also have a 2019 NV3500 (and previously a 2013 2500 V6). I too have experienced very low parts availability... and you may not notice it until you actually execute an order and it ends up stalling, than you call and some confused guy on the phone is like, "hmm it says here it's on backorder". I can't explain all the little signs that give me the vibe that we should be ordering essentials, wear/tear items, spare emergency parts etc. If something is bugging you about your rig, get the parts asap, cause the situation isn't going to get better. I love this one (put in 4x4) as a family fun and emergency rig so it's not going anywhere until I can't get it to run anymore.

Speedo and Odo Incorrect After Tire Size Increase...Fix?
Longboardguy replied to Ferrugenfish's topic in Wheels & Tires
My reply from Hypertech says they do not have a model that works with the Nissan NV3500 In my case, my e350 V10 did bog down with the taller tires and it was especially felt when on an uphill grade. Correcting the speedo made a very noticeable difference. I was glad I did it. -

My 2013 just did this for the first time tonight. I took the key out a couple times and kept trying, but nothing worked until I tried quickly turning the key over and over several times. My initial guess is the starter froze up, but I don't know. Does anybody know what the issue actually is? Have any of you figured it out in the last 6 years since this thread started? Thanks!

Speedo and Odo Incorrect After Tire Size Increase...Fix?
Ferrugenfish replied to Ferrugenfish's topic in Wheels & Tires
Ahhh now that is interesting (calibrated trans shifting timing). That was my deeper wonder... if these signals cause my rig to bog down a little in power, more so than the expected weight increase from big tires. I'll have to google Hypertech speedo calibrator... thanks! -
Speedo and Odo Incorrect After Tire Size Increase...Fix?
Longboardguy replied to Ferrugenfish's topic in Wheels & Tires
I had used the Hypertech speedo calibrator to adjust for the taller tires on my 2006 ford e350 4wd. I was able to calibrate it perfectly. It took a few tries to get it done but was easy enough. Correcting the calibration also corrected the trans shifting timing too. Yep. Computers. Just search odometer calibrator. There maybe one compatible with the Nissan NV. -
Just got mine. Not installed yet. See how it goes for me.

Had to cut off the factory nut for the flimsy oem terminal clamp and trim the plastic cover but have a marine style clamp now.
-
Still a 27F but a nice upgrade all around. Cost a pretty penny but worth it with a discount. 4yr warranty, real high CCA and low risk of draining the starter when parked with the dome lights or radio on, etc. I have one of these in a diesel and it'll cold start that engine in -40 F using a momentary glow plug switch. Only annoyance with these X2 batteries are the terminal posts. The posts just seem extra tapered and slick compared to normal batteries. They are high quality brass but, because of this I guess, never seem to get along with factory clamps. Not the worst thing as most factory terminal clamps could use an upgrade anyways. I typically go with marine style.

Good idea to start a thread, but where to post it so it is easily found. Rather than part by part posts, it may be better to list sources by category. Region might help if only to avoid shipping costs.

I have considered starting a thread about NLA parts unique to the NV series. What will I need someday, and what should I pick up now just incase? The only part I went looking for, so far, that made me hesitate was a rear back up sensor on the bumper. Mine works but the bezel was smashed. The dealership wanted about a million dollars for the correct part. I ordered a cheepo from eBay but was wrong color, bad fit, wrong shape. The availability of new parts at the dealership may dry up. I think eBay will be the best source for NOS or used OEM parts. I'm sure I can easily keep my van on the road for the next 10 years, or until they take my drivers license away from me. I managed to find many obsolete OEM parts for my MB 560sl restoration on eBay. This ebay listing on 10/11/24 may be the air box 16500ZE01A you were looking for: $50 or best offer shipping $35. https://www.ebay.com/itm/375509090629?fits=Make%3ANissan&_skw=nissan+nv+air+filter+box&epid=1211261803&itmmeta=01J9Y6FB5FND2PMDF0DZGVWYWD&hash=item576e160145:g:ktMAAOSw6yxmmGLB&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmQ5HyysymJKepej28PSrd8BpCnqxub2I7hDe1OdwkTWegB9FKBfcXqvHKn--i0udY49mbQxvHmvEUqhb3SoLlt3%2FLVKk%2Bb5X8q0VCaPBEnBtIhIaF%2F4Cm4m8tFk0vsi8utD6BkPLQWfepCfOgIgwIIt0Ka%2BUIN%2BEkeEDdts7uo3FonnzdTpdETzoVVk5LQoKj4JXsi0mPqlVMEhNNfJeQ%2Fq6m%2FaPsNw6%2B7ESvPvciylSybLSbsg4qFvf%2BGvPVal6aPR5lnSeMO%2FxoTAFyWY5xTjOnqv%2B1Jl4A3Py%2BWIoFzWQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_KyvcbPZA

2018 NV3500 low roof cargo home build camper
radin2son replied to Longboardguy's topic in Conversions
Great work. Perfect for you and grandkid. -
Everyone's needs are different. This build may not work for you but it is what I currently think I want. It's all subject to possible modification and change as I build this. This is a "work in progress" posting so there is still a lot to do. It is kinda like a house, where there is always something to do or finish, redo, and things that will never get finished. I came from having multiple Ford Econoline vans, trucks, motorhome and campers since 1968. The last one was a Ford e350 4x4 fiberglass high top camper. I could go anywhere and be self contained off grid. Prior to the covid years, I frequently traveled month long camping treks along the coastlines in Baja Mexico. Things are different now and my needs have changed. At 72 years old and a botched knee replacement, my surfing expeditions have become much shorter and the camping is now oriented more towards shorter vacations and safer campgrounds with the grand kid. I'm in So. California near the coastline and have never been much of a "snow person" and I really do not want anything to do with that stuff. I get an allergic reaction while near it. Chills, runny nose, shakes, little bumps all over my skin... Textbook allergy symptoms. My Nissan NV build will be not intended for full time living, vanlife, or cold weather camping. Almost all of my cooking is done outside on a 8 ft folding table using a Coleman propane stove grill combo or a portable butane single Burner stove. My van: 2018 Nissan NV3500 cargo 5.6 V8 130,000 miles on the odometer. It's previous life was a AC & refrigeration service vehicle. No signs of any abuse. Excellent service history, no accidents except for the bent front bumper, tiny amount of rust on a couple the roof rack mounts. It runs strong and considerably quieter and smoother than the E350 Quigley did. What has been done is: Replace dented front bumper and Raptor coated Ripped out the existing shelves, Divider, console, rubber floor mat and roof mounted ladder carrier Added sliding windows to the slide door and left side along with the 2 rear windows Insulated and panel walls, doors and ceiling and install the flooring Built a convertible dinette bed BougeRv 1500wh 12 volt Power station with built-in 2200W inverter BougeRv 53 qt. Refrige freezer Tiny 1985 vintage Sharp Munchkin 600W Microwave Cassette toilet stored in a pull out box/stool/table DTV Passenger seat swivel Added second grab handle to side door pillar Lagun swivel table mount and Table Next On the list: Add full extension pull out drawers under the dinette seats Make a removable cushion for the stool box Make insulated window covers Dimmable LED lights in the ceiling Maxxfan install LED light outside above the sliding door Lots More interior trim and detail to do Way down the list: LineX or Raptor the roof to prevent any future rust. There are to many nooks and crannies that can retain dirt, ocean salts and water. Slight lift for better ground clearance Build a roof rack Maybe an awning mounted to the rack Tire upgrade Custom step/running boards Outside water Spray port to rinse off bodies, feet, dog slobber No plans to install: custom rims or huge tires Heater These pictures are where I am today on this build. I will add to this string as the project progresses.

I read Nissan discontinued the NV series vans. Due to an accident I needed a new air filter housing. The dealer I went to told me I got the last one in the US. Any request for this item would show as back ordered. Also, that there would be no more made. In another thread in this forum I read another major electronic part was not available for someone. I'm considering selling or trading in my 2019 NV3500 passenger because I wonder if the next time I would need a part it will not be available. Now if these vans had been a big marketed item and hundreds of thousands were manufactured, then maybe parts may be available on eBay or elsewhere. But that's just not the case. What have you experienced as far as getting parts as of 2024, soon to be 2025. Any problems finding a part? Any parts not available any longer? What have you done to work around a lack of parts? I'd appreciate you letting us know your experience. Thanks.
-
This Nissan forum is really quiet. I guess I should do my part and post something. So, I purchased this 2018 NV3500 5.6 in July of 2024 after selling off my 2006 Ford e350 4wd high-top home build camper. I am no longer chasing waves in remote Baja California locations. The difference between this and the Ford makes the Nissan feel like a "New" van to me. Quieter, more power, more headroom, arm room and leg room. The NV came with the full Adrian shelving system, cab divider and roof ladder rack. All of that stuff was ripped out on the first day along with the center console and floor mat. I now have a clean slate to work with. I will soon start posting about my build within the conversions sub forum.

The Roadtrek Nav6 / N6 Active NV Conversions Thread
WanderlustAV replied to WanderlustAV's topic in Conversions
Replacing the sliding door step. Of course, I'm going to reinforce it properly beneath so it doesn't just crack again. Anybody know why there are so many vent holes, glands, etc. in this space? A lot of road noise comes up through here and I'd like to dampen it but don't see the point of applying sound deadener if all these holes and vents serve a functional purpose and need to be left intact. I suppose I'll just put the dynamat on the new step.
