I think he just needs switched power for the remote turn on and didn't want to get behind the radio...

Welcome to the forum. 9/10 times in 12V cars the black wire is ground. I would actually say 9.9 times out of 10 black or a black striped wire is ground or negative. The exact opposite of 110V homes! If nobody chimes in with a 100% answer and you are bored you can grab a simple test light at any auto store, Walmart, Target, etc for a couple bucks. You can also tap into the fuse box if it is easier. Just pick a switched 12V fuse and tap it.

Um, something didnt post along with your question. Need full wheel specs to help! EDIT - Noticed that was your first post so welcome to the site!

That van is a beast. Nice build. Any drone with the exhaust in the cab when just cruising around or on the highway? -
6000 pound van, make math easy so 1500 lbs per tire that had pressure on a 1/4" nozzle. If that was sticking straight up out of some dirt or gravel I can see it happening under perfect circumstances. Just bad luck really!
-
It's looks exactly like a CO2 cartridge like in a BB gun. Not sure why it is green and I am shocked it went through your tire like that! That is a definite replace job vs. patch job. I had a big chunk of concrete go through my tire from all the road construction going on. It was about 3/4" in diameter so a big hole. Used that as my excuse to swap out all my tires to all terrains!

That proves exactly what?! You have no idea what is mounted below that lift base or even where it is attached in the bed of that truck. Look, from the start all any of us have done on this site is offer you advice. You seem 100% convinced every Transit is a noodle, the new 5.6 motor and 7spd is the be all end all answer to our MPG woes, and all sorts of other news and ideas. You take stats as gospel when many of them have no real world specs to back them up. You're going to hang a 450 pound / 210 kg motorcycle off the end of a long arm that is going to be swinging around. Have you even read the installation instructions for the Spitzlift? I just did for the fun of it and I think you have not after reading your posts. You are REQUIRED to reinforce the mounting area of the baseplate anywhere that it is not bolted to the frame structure of the vehicle. Even when it is mounted to the frame structure of the vehicle they want you to use steel tube and steel angle iron to channel the load and reinforce the mounting holes. If you dont want advice just say so. Like I said. Buy the van, build the van, use that lift with no reinforcement, take lots of photos and make a log of your MPG. Prove us wrong. I personally think you're in for a rude awakening with many things once put into real world practice. If I am wrong I will be the first in line to eat crow. Wouldnt be the first or last time.
-
Good luck with it. You seem to be very convinced on every post you make. I will be interested in seeing your MPG numbers and how all this turns out in real world usage. If it works great. Post up lost of photos and reviews.

I second NVAir - K.I.S.S. - use ramps, even folding ramps. If you use a lift and bolt it to the floor you will need to seriously reinforce that floor from twisting leverage. You're over thinking this. Lift would be cool and everything but I think totally unnecessary and will take up valuable floor space.

New article on the van = http://www.autoblog.com/2017/02/02/nissan-cummins-off-road-cargo-van/#slide-4424793 I would buy that thing if they built it. I bet with a tuner on it you could get some pretty nice numbers out of that Cummins if needed.

Mine definitely does not beep at me for going too fast or too slow. Do you have any special settings turned on in Nav? I dont have speed turned on for my Nav, it never has been from day 1. That would drive me nuts.

Daniel - you need to read up on the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act that is enforced by the FTC. Here is a good summary - http://www.autoanything.com/popups/MossWarranty.aspx You can certainly go to the FTC site and read all the legal boiler plate but above will give you the basics. The burden is on the dealer to prove the tires are causing the problem and it cant be something like "because I said so". If this gets far enough along they would need to prove in arbitration court that the tires are causing the ECU to malfunction and kick the transmission out of manual mode. Highly unlikely. Granted you dont want to make enemies of the people working on your van but you also dont need the runaround and smoke screens when they cant figure out what is wrong with your van. They're grasping at straws and hoping you just go away.

What are my exhaust upgrade options?
ASD Dad replied to Ridgerunr's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Haven't read links yet but you need to research BD and Superchips more. They both fully flash the ECU and you can remove both from the vehicle after flashing. Most remove the Superchips since it doesn't do much after the fact. The BDGT is a scangauge among other things showing many different configurable variables. You can also adjust things like engine timing on the fly. That is why people leave the BDGT hooked up. When I refernced removing the tuner it wasn't the gauge. You need to flash the ECU back to stock before taking it in for dealer service. It's not 100% required but much safer. If there's some small update they need to flash the ECU for you risk bricking it and even if it does work the BDGT will not the next time it's plugged in. I think you're confusing a flasher like BD and UpRev with something like the Hypertech Interceptor. That hijacks the signal without actually flashing the ECU. Safer for the computer but that was junk on my Tundra. -
Its been a long while since I posted. I now see around 5-6 NVP's in total around here. That's it. Tons of Cargos daily but still only a few NVP's.

Have a link? I researched tuners for months before picking the Bully Dog and it was by far the most tested and well reviewed tuner out there. I looked at dozens of dyno charts and even tons of time slips where people were running back to back runs with different settings. The biggest time slip advantage was the WOT restriction removal but even with rolling starts there were differences. You are also misinformed. The BDGT DOES flash the ECM. If you dont believe me, go ask one of the many who bricked their ECM from a bad flash or not following instructions. BD also tells you to remove it for any service work, if they try and do any ECU work while your vehicle is in service that will brick the ECU and it will also render your BD useless the next time you hook it up. That is also why there are very specific tunes that need to be downloaded for every make and model vehicle and the year. I had to wait 2 weeks for BD to make a tune for my van. Superchips and others also flash the ECU. The biggest and really only reason to use UpRev is they offer custom tuning. If you go with something like headers, intakes, cams or the Stillen Supercharger then you must use UpRev. None of the others offer a tune that will work with those aftermarket parts. You should also only get an UpRev tune from a dealer who can tune it on the dyno. That is UpRev's biggest advantage, they can tweak it per vehicle on a dyno with the mods you have installed. If you only have simple bolt ons there is no reason to go the UpRev route and pay a lot more money unless you really just want a custom tune for your exact vehicle. You can always tell UpRev what mods you have and they can make you a custom program but it will be a best guess by their engineers. An UpRev tune for the NV the last I checked runs an easy $1000. They dont have a factory tune for the NV and treat it as custom. You can get a BDGT, intake and exhaust for that much money. BD and others like Superchips play the middle game and offer "safe" tunes for basic mods along with doing things like removing the throttle restriction, changing engine timing, etc. There is only so much that can be done to a gas motor to tweak it. Diesel guys get the big gains but they can play with boost pressure and other tweaks. -
Welcome to the site! Where in NC are you? I could sort of see that delivery working here but we're spread out and would require a ton of driving. We have a local dairy farm where we buy all our milk products (Happy Cow Creamery). The farmer there has won numerous national awards for new farming practices for dairy cows. Farm fresh milk that is minimally processed tastes way better than the stuff in stores! Much better for you too. For the van, you definitely want a 3500 HD with that much weight. You may also need a helper spring, Timbrens or airbags to keep the rear from sagging too much. I'd start doing some rough math of the Thermaking, everything you'll be installing plus the weight of the milk and then see how much cushion you have on the rear axle rating and payload rating. The total payload is around 3500 pounds for the highroof V8. I cant remember what the rear axle rating is off the top of my head.

What are my exhaust upgrade options?
ASD Dad replied to Ridgerunr's topic in Accessories & Modifications
People have installed Titan exhausts with modifications. Nothing out there just bolts right up but most can be made to fit by any competent shop. Headers should fit as well if you want to go that route. Highly recommend the Bully Dog and several others do as well. Getting rid of the throttle restriction at take off will be the biggest game changer when towing. Makes a total night and day transformation of the van. Titan intakes also fit with minor mods. I had the Airaid which was the highest rated Titan intake with proven dyno results. It just droned way too much when towing. If I didnt tow so much I would have left it on but it was really annoying to the family when we were towing. -
Welcome to the site! Our old neighbors used to show Rhodesian's, they are very cool dogs with an even cooler history behind them. I think we may have another person on here that shows dogs and has kennels. Maybe they'll chime in and show you their layout.

You have a 2015, you should be under warranty unless you have some crazy miles on your van. Something is triggering the compressor to turn off but I honestly have no idea what or why. Some small engines will decouple the compressor when accelerating hard to limit the HP drain on the motor but I cant imagine either motor in our NV would do that. Regardless those compressors reengage once you're not accelerating hard which yours is not doing.

NVP has been the best purchase for us!
ASD Dad replied to Christhelawman's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Welcome to the site! I am impressed with that mileage, I thought I put a lot on at 25,000 a year but you are over double that! That is not good news about the cat went out so early. They usually last for over a 100K miles unless your area has really bad gas. Plus I assume that is mostly highway miles so relatively easy on the cat and engine. Why are you out of warranty for the blower? It's 5yr/100K factory bumper to bumper. You have half that mileage and are a year old. Any other issues? We love our van and I used to get questions all the time. Those seem to have stopped a few months ago. Not sure if more people see them now or what changed. Kids in the school line still get a kick out of it, I am by far the biggest vehicle in the car line! -
Thanks, hadn't read that article (obviously). So all that bragging by Nissan and Cummins was a big fat lie! Still think the motor fills a niche that isn't there. Diesels need to be able to pull a house or get great gas mileage. That's why people buy them and put up with DEF fluid, fuel filter changes and gallons of oil among other things. The Cummins 5.0 tows just a little more than the best gas motors and gets just a little better mileage. I was really excited for the Cummins and thought about the Titan XD. Then I saw the specs and reviews. I think the new 5.6 gas motor offers more for the money.
-
They did some work to it, that motor maxes out at 275hp and the Titan is at 310 with many getting more. TQ is inline with the ISV5.0. Why would Cummins brag the XD motor was all new from the ground up if it was a rehash of a 2013 bus motor? Every single press release from Cummins and Nissan states it was an all new motor from Cummins. It was supposed to be used by RAM as well but they rejected it in favor of the Ecodiesel motor by Fiat (and of course keeping their big Cummins). Getting HP numbers up is quite simple with most turbo diesels just with boost pressure. But again - why brag it is all new if they just turned the wick up a little?
-
As I said, the Titan XD sits on a different chassis than the 5.6 gasser. The Cummins should be able to tow more weight but only if they change the chassis as well. The old 5.6 weighed in around 500 lbs. The Cummins weighs in at 900 lbs! Not sure what the different transmissions weigh from gas to diesel. Adding 400 pounds over the front end isnt insignificant. Also, as far as I knew and from what Cummins was touting for months before release - that 5.0 motor is all new - https://cumminsengines.com/cummins-5l-v8-turbo-diesel
-
Cummins has been rumored for a while but no official word. Cummins factory has a NV with the 5.0 in it for a shuttle van but it was a test mule so nothing official from Nissan. The 2017 did get the new 5.6 and transmission but they limited the HP and TQ of the motor. They'd probably due the same thing to the Cummins if it came over. The 5.0 Cummins is kind of an odd motor. It isnt strong enough to compete with the HD motors of the big Detroit makers but it also isnt fuel efficient enough to compete against the new small diesels out there. Yes it has mountains more torque than the 5.6 but it also costs more, weighs more and is more costly to maintain. Unless they change the chassis somehow I would think the actual payload and tow ratings would go Down on the NV with the Cummins just due to the weight of the motor. The 5.6 gas Titan chassis is different than the Cummins XD. 4x4 has also been rumored. I think somebody here knows more about that, maybe from talking to Quigley but I know it has been discussed a lot.

15L/100km translates out to 15.7 MPG for US MPG. That is very good MPG for a V8 NV and unheard of MPG for a NV towing anything. I towed an empty landscape trailer and even that dropped 2 mpg just due to drag from the back gate. I work from home and still put that many miles on! The joys of having two kids who have therapy 4 days a week.
