Has anyone put in a override switch to show the backup camera when driving? This could be really helpful when my storage area is completely packed. (It's the stock navigation screen on 2013 passenger)

That's interesting. On the Nissan.ca website ONLY the Titan got the new 5.6 option. The 2017 Armada shows the 5.6 317hp engine (must be a typo on the Canadian site). Thanks for pointing this out! I will be really interested in finding out what people think of the new engine and tranny in the nv3500. Very curious how the mpg will be affected as well

What makes everybody think the new 5.6 is going in the nv3500? The 2017 Armada stil has our same engine. Did I miss an announcement or are people just assuming or hoping? Would be pumped if this were happening soon!

Why Choose Nissan NV over Ford Econoline?
NVP replied to klausvanwinkle's topic in Nissan NV 3500 HD
FYI, I traded in my Tahoe (which I loved) for the Nissan and wouldn't EVER go back. The reliability from my experience is so superior with the Nissan that it makes me smile. Yes, the gas blows in the Nissan and it would be a nice luxury to have 4x4 but the build quality and lack of issues is a glad trade off from my experience Also, to answer the original question as posted, the Nissan was a no brainier for us because of the looks, headrests, leather, height, and power to tow. Until the Transit, the headrests weren't there for the ford and we didn't care to own a newer untested product (and we also aren't a fan of the ecoboost for reliability); the sprinter is a sweet ride but too high for our garage, we do short trips and didn't think a diesel was needed, and the cabin noise seemed much greater, and of course towing wasn't there and price was much higher. I actually haven't had a single issue whatsoever with the Nissan and it's a real attention grabber as well bc it's relatively still unknown. While I'm sure that many people are somewhat biased to what they own, I can fully recommend the NVP. Actually, for the price of a loaded minivan these days I'm shocked that there aren't more of these on the road (perhaps the advertising side of the commercial line is really lacking?). I must say though the high top cargo is really ugly from my perspective and it wasn't until I saw a black passenger vehicle that I said- that's awesome. Cheers! -
Anybody install a led light bar yet? If so, what size and where did you mount it?
-
I got it cutout from a local film company who just printed out the template for NV hood. The only cutout available for NV is the hood (it covers about a foot up the hood and the line is basically unnoticeable) Product used was ventureshield from 3M. If I do the sides a 12" high roll will be fine. I have lots of friends who put clear film on their headlights as well to protect from scratches and hazing (I'm thinking about doing this as well)
-
Just put clear shield on the front of hood. Wondering if it's worth while to put it on the bottom section of sides- Does the NV get lots of mud splash from tires on side of vehicle during winter? Anybody have paint protection film or wish they did in a certain area? Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

I'm sure you'll figure out what's best for you. It's sure nice to have lots of options!

No, we don't find the middle seat an issue bc we would have to step in to release seat even if it was on the end. Also, it makes it so much easier for front passenger to take a look back at baby or reach a hand back when needed. We do though have our oldest child on the end seat (no car seat needed for her) so there is nothing to get in the way when getting baby in and out.

Congrats on #7! We just had our 8th and find the biggest difference in car seat arrangements happens to be the size of the seat. It often seems that the higher priced seats are slimmer and much better in a row. Our rear facing infant seat works best in the middle of the second row (but we have a console)- and then our 4 year old sneaks over to the window and buckles herself in. We LOVE the space of the NV coming from a 9 seat tahoe.

Miles per Gallon for 2500 v6 low roof and high roof
NVP replied to dslavin123's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
By the way, according to US fuel ratings (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/PowerSearch.doaction=Cars&year=2015&make=Nissan&pageno=5&sortBy=Comb&tabView=0&rowLimit=10), a 2wd 5.6L 2015 Nissan Armada should get 12mpg in the city (and this is under favorable conditions). So how are people getting 2mpg better than than that on average city driving with a vehicle that can fit the armada In the glovebox??? I suspect people's "city ratings" on this forum are truly more hwy based. -
Miles per Gallon for 2500 v6 low roof and high roof
NVP replied to dslavin123's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Rick, I'm also wondering how people get such good mileage. I get 9mpg in all city and 11mpg with a mix of city/hwy and I drive like a granny!! Something doesn't add up. For example, when driving all city- 95 liters (25.1 Gal) will get me 375km (233miles). That's 9.28 US MPG. Are people perhaps estimating Imperial MPG which would be 11.15mpg? I have v8 3500 passenger. By the way, I'd never want a v6 because a vehicle this big is so much more versatile with a v8 -
That's would be so awesome!!

I did it flawlessly in about 20 minutes. Just hold the molding against vehicle and then peel small sections of the green wax paper strip off the back while holding in place. Helps to have another person hold the other end when you start .
-
I did the same thing a few months ago. The molding is hardly noticeable on my black NVP. The cost of fixing a small dent would be crazy on panels this size so that's why I did it as well.

Anyone use a step stool instead of running boards for kids?
NVP replied to BuyinganNVP's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
I would first try it out and see if you really need a step. We have 8 kids and our 2 year old gets in and out on his own. We have found no use for a step. -
It's funny that the navigation screen is half the size of the one in my acura car but it still works fine and the backup camera is a great feature. Overall, I've been really impressed with the Nissan and it totally destroys the competition in my opinion.

I just picked up a 2013 NVP SL. We love it and with almost 8 kids there is no better vehicle. Coming from a 9 passenger Tahoe it's sure nice to have ROOM! Our vehicle is black and so we decided it would be named the "batmobile". Besides, there is only one more (a silver NVP) I'm aware of in our town and nobody seems to know what we are driving. Lol. Anyways, thanks for this site as I've learned so much already.
