  1. I just turned 100,000 miles on my 13 5.6 and change oil/filter every 5,000 with Valvoline 5/30 conventional oil. Prior to draining for the 100,000 mile oil change I checked the oil level for the first time ever and it was full up to the top line on the dipstick so no oil use.
  2. Lot's of good info here. I prefer the Reese dual cam hitch. The weight distribution bars are also the anti bounce and sway control.
  3. It's the ricer diesels with the small weenies that like to tow race. Douchebags.
  4. A few thousand miles on these now with no regrets 2013 nv 2500 hi top v8. Stock size. I drove some inclines in ice and snow the last couple weeks commuting to work, these tires work great with the traction control on. I though I would need studs on the rear but not yet, I have not even had to air them down. Running rears at 70 lbs. They are wearing good, not noisy but do have the slightest of buzz through the steering wheel when compared to the stockers. I will buy these again when the time comes.
  5. Another 3,800 miles on the ko2's over Christmas break, highway miles mostly, did not get into any snow. Drove 85 most of the trip with plenty of 90 mph and some 100 mph sections and no issues, I would buy these again.
  6. New KO2's mounted up and have 200 mile's on them. The good - They look cool and are giving me more confidence driving over a couple of passes in the next two weeks, I still carry chains just to be safe. The bad - There is a slight buzz (not really a vibration) felt in the steering wheel due to the aggressive tread, the tires do make some noise but is very minor and a passenger that has never ridden in my SV2500 would never hear anything out of the ordinary (the tire noise is that minimal). The van does not track quite as well through the corners, meaning you are fighting the wheel a little bit to keep from over or under turning the corner. Van drove straighter down the highway with the highway tires. My KO2's are the stock size. I do not regret purchasing these tire's as my trips to AZ in the winter will be a little less nerve racking. I recommend these if you are in need of a snow/mud tire or simply want a more off road look to the vehicle. For me they are not too big of a compromise to have the extra snow traction.
  7. My 13 hi top is getting bfg ko2's in factory size this Thursday $218 each. I will paint the factory wheels satin black in a few weeks, leaving the center cap silver and white letters out. My alignment shop talked me out of aftermarket wheels, the Nissan drives and handles so well I didn't want to screw around with it. Custom wheels are mostly China junk now days and often are not centric, meaning the hole is not quite dead center in the middle which can cause a weird slight vibration.
  8. Yes, van shop cut in my fantasticvent, center of cargo area. It fits in there good with ribs still in tact or mostly anyways.
  9. I just finished my ceiling and unscrewed the turn knob, flange then unscrewed the screen cover. Was straight forward.
  10. :number1:Thank you for the advice Carrick, I purchased a key fob from wireless-now via Ebay. $9.97 with free shipping and battery. It didn't take 60 seconds for me to program the remote.
  11. 2013 Hi top v8 2500 here. I tow 5,500 lb travel trailer with two dirt bikes in the van plus gear, water extra gas etc.... so probably 7500 to 8000 total trailer and cargo. Like mentioned above just drive smart and have some mercy on the rig and it will be fine, the Nissan nv is geared perfectly for uphill in 3rd gear, 3,500 rpm at 55 mph. I also have towed the same trailer with a gmc 1500 and duramax 2500, the Nissan is by far the most comfortable and stable suspension wise. I like prodigy brake controller and Reese dual cam weight distribution hitch.
  12. 85 most of the way to Arizona from Washington state, some 90 and will do a hundred without a struggle. 2013 2500 v8 hi top.
  13. Correction, I have needed a flat screwdriver (three times) to bleed the air out of my duramax after running it out of fuel. Ya, I'm an idiot.
  14. Get the V8, you will never regret it.
  15. Not a lot of p's but the hi-top cargo's are all over the place.
  16. Mine blows warm then cool as well. Seems odd without climate control.
  17. My local NON commercial Nissan dealer changed the trans and rear diff oil for me, also programmed a second ignition key without any issues. Nissan does not supply a trans dip stick so I didn't want to chance putting in the wrong amount of fluid. I agree on the engine oil changes though. I want to purchase the oil that goes in my vehicles. 5/30 Valvoline for me.
  18. 51 years old and have never needed a tool on a road trip. I did just make my second 3500 mile round trip to Phoenix and threw in my tool box and tire chains.
  19. I used to do the 3,000 mile oil changes until I saw a news piece where consumer reports changed oil at 3,000 or 8,000 on a large fleet of NY taxi cabs, after 100,000 miles they tore the engines down and found no measurable difference in wear. This was in the 80's so most likely Dino oil. That is when I went to 5,000 mile changes. Easy to track too.
  20. I carry about 800 lbs in my 2500 hi top v8 and tow about 7000 lbs, tows just fine.
  21. Mine leaked also 2013 hi-top, I had windshield replaced and no leaks for going on a year now.
  22. I turn mine off on occasion when I think it will be a nuisance, A couple years ago I turned around in some wet grass with the wifes RWD lexus, with VSC off the car would not move, turned on the VSC and the car drove right out, slowly but was like dry pavement.
  23. I hitched up my 26' travel trailer and had it weighed at the state patrol. Van front - 3,300 lbs Van rear - 4,500 lbs Trailer - 5,500 lbs I then added roughly 500 lbs to van and 500 lbs to trailer for a total weight of approx. 14,300 which is 1,800 below the combined vehicle rating. I have had the same trailer for 10 years. First tow vehicle 2004 gmc 1500 5.3 v8 - Towed pretty well. NV tows better with slightly more power. Second tow vehicle 2003 Duramax - Tows really well of course. I purchased this van for over nighter's with my dirt bike, it never crossed my mind to tow anything with it until the injectors started to fail on the duramax right before our annual central Oregon camping trip. So I installed a brake controller and hitched up to the NV. Towing from Vancouver WA to just south of Prineville Oregon and back, 334 miles round trip. The first 120 miles over mount hood I got 8.3 mpg. The half ton got 10.5 and the duramax 12.5. I was pleasantly surprised at the power going up the MT hood 6% grade. This van is geared perfectly and pulls the long hill 55mph at 3,500 rpm and stays in third gear, I could have easily towed at 60 but that would not have been safe on those turns and cliffs. Suspension wise with the Reese dual cam weight distribution hitch this is the best rig I have owned as far as the trailer never bounces or throws the van around, It stays really planted and there is never any surprises. I fully endorse this rig for towing a trailer at or under 5,500 lbs. I add a lot more weight with dirt bikes, generator, firewood etc..... and this rig for me tows like a champ.
  24. I mounted the Prodigy P2 to the level under dash surface near and next to the left side of the console. Is above my right shin but not too close. I can still reach it while driving.
  25. I had an rv type vent installed in the center of the roof in my cargo. $269,000 installed. I am venting a motorcycle in the cargo area, You can open the vent a couple of inches without rain getting in, works well.
