I thought the ‘22 Frontier would tempt you. Good choice.

Since you traded it, did it hold it’s value?

Periodically, the dealer here sends a “We want to buy your cargo van” email. Computer has no idea it is a camper van.

Mine did, but 6-8 mos ago it was valued at a lot less. The KBB had it worth about 12K then and now it’s at 20K. The chip things that are having a “shortage” on have gotten trade in values skyrocketing. I paid 25K for my van, an S 6 cyl. and got 18K for it so yeah, it held value so I had buku as a down on the Frontier. I believe used prices are about to plummet so I pulled the trigger.

  2.   I’m leaving because I am no longer a NV cargo owner! I traded it in today for a new 2022 Nissan Frontier. It’s been been great being on here although sometimes rarely. Thanks for all the tips here and hope I might have help someone too

  3. So, 25 miles to pavement is hard on shocks/struts. My NV is a 2015 so the originals were pretty worn out. I ordered a set of loaded strut from ebay and they were pure trash. I then ordered a set of Monroe struts from rockauto but they were not the loaded SO. Out came my spring compressor and . . . it didn’t fit the larger diameter spring coils. No problem, I thought I’d just take them (original old loaded and new struts) to the tire shop and have them transfered so I could take them home to install.  The “tech” informed me they would not fit. So, I called rockauto who said, “those are the number listed by Monroe for that van”  Then, I called Monroe, they were extremely helpful and in a very understanding nice way, basically said the “tech” was blowing blueberries out his behind.  SO, knowing a good machinist/mechanic, (my son), I had some custom spring compressors made and yeah, Monroe was 100% correct, the “tech” had a blueberry problem for certain.

Yesterday, I just installed new Monroe rear shocks to complete the new struts/shocks change out and to make a long story short . . . NO MORE BOUNCY THE VAN.

I have been racking my brain doing online research trying to determine if I will need a suspension lift in order to avoid rubbing, or any other issues, after swapping the stock wheels/tires for the aftermarket pair I just picked up by happenstance at a basement price.

The wheels are 20x9 and the tires are 285/60/20.

Question: will I need to get a lift prior to, or simultaneous to the install of these new wheels & tires?

I know there is a chance that I will need to shim the sliding door which is fine. My main concern is whether or not I am going to be able to mount these new tires and wheels and drive off onto the highway without having issues with turning/rubbing/etc.

Any ideas or input out there??

those tires/wheels are 35’s (34.6”)  I do believe you will need a lift for tire clearance.  Also make sure your slider  door clears

ASD Dad briefly went with bully dog and posted a great review under 5.6L Engine.

He rarely posts any more. Same for Bamps. Thought he might have gone with a 2020 Frontier.

I still find time every now and then to come around but true. I still have my NV and Frontier.  I am debating a 22 Frontier or rebuilding the inside of the NV

  6. I just replaced a battery (original) at 40k on my 2015. Tires have been replaced, (more my preference) and charcoal canister on Evap system and solenoid vlv in evap system replaced at 15k

Stock stereo head unit replaced for bluetooth compatible, then that unit replaced again for Apple play compatible

  7. I am wondering if they will still make the Titan HD with the gasoline V8. The Frontier has been unchanged since 2005 and the Frontier/Navarra (np300) for the rest of the world is beginning to be old now but we are still with the same old d40 Frontiers. Those suit me fine as I use them as a beat the tar out of them and go get a new one truck and dont want the smoother riding carlike trucks the other manufacterers are selling.

  8. We have a king snake who wanders around our yard. Mostly stays in the undergrowth but also climbs trees. One day saw him partially under our car and tried to grab him (?) but he made his way into the engine bay. Must not have stayed long. We haven’t seen him in awhile...

Bamps, do you ever bring back stowaway rodents when you camp? Mostly, we find them after they took their last drink in the gray water pan we put under our van.

    Not yet that I

  9. We ran solar for about ten yrs. in fact, we were completely “off grid”. Water was hauled in, house (700-800 sq ft mobile) was totally powered by solar. Very remote desert area. Heat kills batteries is what I found, you would think Arizona with it’s baking sun would be ideal for solar and we produced a lot. What we hadn’t planned on was the heat weakening the batteries to the point that much was lost. About every two years or so, we were spending thousand to replace battery banks. Two 1500w inverters could not power frig, AC etc all at once. Right now, I really appreciate my air conditioned house “on grid” with a 700’ water well and the power to run the pump to deliver that water.

  10. I live in the desert and frequent dirt desert roads just to get to and from my property. I am very experianced as a result. I have a Frontier pro4x as well and whichever vehicle you take, the main thing Ive found with both is that you need to keep your momentum in soft stuff above airing down, above AT tires. To do that you need to turn off the traction control so that the motor doesnt cut in and out while you are trying to get momentum. I have now AT tires but I know the terrain in this post, although roads can change so fast that going in and coming back out could be two very different situations. I agree with radin2son that you should stop and talk to the ranger. TAKE PLENTY OF WATER!!! On this excursion shown, I carried a 5 gal plastic GI can full of potable water in the van. I live in an area that is very simular to Joshua Tree Park and there can be quite diffferent road conditions within just a few miles.

  11. I dont know how much but I’ve been seriously thinking about going aftermarket alloy rims after lifting that tire/wheel into the bed of my truck the other day when I had a flat. I felt a pop in my knee on that one. Im sure it is close to 100 lbs on the tire/wheel combo

  12. These trucks are reliable, and well built. I have been drivng Nissans since 1999. My NV is the 2500. It has the same V6 that my little Frontier pick up does. I do tow a small travel trailer with mine and it has no problem even with the bigger tires than stock. The one dragging the feet when I got this was my wife. She thought it was ugly, too big and ugly. I liked it but now she loves it . When she goes to the grocery store she puts stuff in the cooler (i installed it) and never wonders where she’s gonna put other stuff. It’s safer too because she can open the slider, toss a whole basket of groceries in climb in behind it and shut, lock the door, then arrange things as she sees fit.
