  2. Late reply, but this might help someone else in this situation in the future... I have used a company for iphone and ipad mounts in Otterbox Defender cases with great results.   5. Hey there, I have quick question before I commit to buying one of these 3rd brake cameras, First off, awesome photos! Can I integrate this camera to the stock NV head unit? Or is this specifically an aftermarket piece that requires an aftermarket head unit? I would like to remove my factory camera by the license plate, and hook up the camera signal to the original harness. Any idea if this works? Thank you for your time :)
  6. I have a 3500HD high roof as a service van and had to add a leaf spring to the rear to level it out. If you don't have it at MAX capacity, adding a leaf will certainly lift it up (but stiffen your ride). Mine looks like it's pretty much stock height now. I can't tow a trailer because of my weight lol
  7. Sorry for bumping an old thread (I'm new around here!), I DO wish that I had installed 3m clear vynl on the giant "stone magnet" just above the window. It's starting to show signs of "needing a paint job in the next few years). I haven't noticed any stone chips on the side of the body, but there are a few on the nose of the hood. I do not have mudflaps fitted, so side protection shouldn't be an issue? (I have a 3500HD Cargo High Roof with 90,000 miles on it now. Had it since new in 2013. LOVE IT)

    CRUNCH!!!

    My coworker drives a NV3500HD Highroof cargo as well, and backed into the balcony of a motel's second floor! Yikes, it was bad. I'm interested in this second camera option too. I've heard there is a company that sells a 3rd brake light with the camera mounted in the middle of it. I don't have any more information on it but it would be worth looking into. I would love to have a centred camera in the housing, and I'm sure it would show a much better view of what's behind you (and what you're about to crunch into, I've had some REALLY close calls myself!)

  10. I have a gas espar air heater installed in the back of my service van 3500 high roof. I mounted mine at the rear of the truck, inside and about 4 feet up, piped the exhaust through the floor and kicked out next to the tail pipe. I didn't seal the exhaust because I drileld a hole t'he same size OD as the exhaust pipe and shoved it through. My setup is a little different because that's the only spot I had space (mounted right above my compressor/welder/generator, fuel pickup installed in compressor tank). EDIT: In the compressor's gas tank, that is. I would think that some high heat silicon or some of that exhaust gasket silicon would work for you. If you can get at it from underneath, load it up :) I had one of those "smart" digital thermostats supplied with my heater, which I mounted in the rear cargo area (on the wall partition, behind the drivers seat, facing the cargo area). If you take that digital thermostat controller apart, you'll see 2 unused pins on the PCB board that you can solder leads to in order to add a microswitch for a "remote turn on switch". I mounted the remote switch in the front (on the wall partition too lol, but facing forward lol) so I can heat up the rear while enroute to my service calls. Definitely something to consider for the convenience, it works great. (The reason I didn't install the controller in the front was because I wanted it to sense the temp of the rear compartment, not the front where my van is already hot) I've been in -40 degree Celcius temperatures in northern ontario wearing a tshirt in the back. Those heaters really put out some heat!!!!!! My tools are always warm and dry, bonus.
  11. I have a similar issue when it's -20 degrees Celcius or colder. I found that when I'm parked and idling, the heater will start to blow cold air until I throttle up a little bit (like 50-100 RPM above idle). After a little throttle, it starts to blow hot again. Probably coolant thermostat related? We have several NV's at work and I've noticed they all act the same in winter. I don't know if this is the same issue you're having. but it sure is annoying! One of my coworkers had to change a coolant hose, and we thought it had air stuck in the system when it started blowing cool air (while already up to operating temperature).. Went over to my van to compare (untouched coolant system) and sure enough it acted the same way too.
