  1. I have a 2” lift and 34” tires. I didn’t notice much of a difference in how my van rides from the stock van that I test drove when I decided to buy my van. I’ve taken mine on some pretty rough Jeep trails while camping and it performs like a champ. I’ve seen a van with a 6” lift and 35” tires over at Advanced. It is noticeably bigger but almost certainly overkill.
  2. I don’t know about the Titan conversion, but I have been very pleased with my Advanced 4x4. From what I have heard the Quigley disables 4 low for some reason. 4 low came in handy when 27” of snow fell on New Years. I was still sliding around a bit when it was in 4 high.
  3. I have a 2017 4x4 from Advanced with a 2” lift, 34” all terrain tires, and a gear ratio change to 3.93. I regularly get 10 mpg mixed driving. I’ve gotten as high as 14-15 mpg if it is pure highway miles.

The cargo carrier worked well to carry my snowblower to help some folks dig out of the last storm.
  6. Nice! I did a double take when I saw the one that Randy at Advanced built for himself. I have a 2” lift and 34” tires on mine. I didn’t notice a big difference in how mine rides from the stock van that I test drove when I decided that I which van I wanted to buy. I am curious how the 6” lift and 35s handle.
  7. You get the new warranty with Advanced as long as it is done before 5000 miles. I love my 4x4. We have had a bunch of snow the past few days.
  8. The long hood isn’t a waste of space. It is just a different priority. I was initially hesitant about the long hood, but I fell in love with the NV as soon as I test drove it. I am 6’6” And the NV was by far the most comfortable for me to drive. I find it ironic that many of the largest vehicles are not designed to accommodate large people.
  9. I just like to keep my options open. Before my NV, I had always drove a truck. I got used to being able to throw things in the bed when I needed to without having to think about it. I bought a trailer to replace my truck bed for trips to the dump but that is a bit of a pain when you just want to pick up a few sheets of plywood. I wish that Nissan had designed the backs of the passenger seats to fold down so it wouldn’t be necessary to pull them out to use the van for cargo. Not as much cargo as when you remove the seats but enough for a few big items from the hardware store. I suppose this is officially a commercial vehicle and most businesses have a very specific purpose inmind when they buy a vehicle. They either buy the cargo van for hauling stuff or the passenger van for hauling people. But would it really be that difficult/expensive to keep regular consumers in mind when designing these things? Sure you can remove the seats but that is a big pain too. I am a big guy and am used to lifting heavy things but those double seats are no joke!
  10. Yup. Three of my four kids are on the spectrum. That is a good part of why I bought my NV. There is a lot more room so there is less, “He is breathing my air!” I saw your post about the topper rack. The breaking mounts are worrisome. I just found out that the Smittybilt weighs 170 lbs. That’s 1/3 of the roof capacity. I don’t see the point in getting a huge rack that can’t carry much. Seems like it would be far better to go with an aluminum rack.
  11. I asked the manufacturer if it would be possible to get one that was black anodized. They said no. I’m thinking that the Smittybilt 50125AM might be the way to go. They may not have the slats or perforated floor of the Aluminess but they are about half the price. I hear you about annoying rattles. I have three autistic kids who have a hard time tuning out noises. So, if the rattle didn’t drive me nuts, the complaints from the kids surely would. Although the H2 and AluRack appear to be assembled from kits. You should be able to omit the roller when you assemble it.
  12. Here’s a link to a video of an AluRack installed on a sprinter. It also has a roller on the back. I wish it came in black.

I was hoping for a grill guard. The post on eBay said it was a grill guard and didn’t show it installed so I couldn’t tell that it was a brush guard. The instructions mentioned that it “might” interfere with the parking assist sensors. The bar was right in front of them. The seller wanted a 50% restocking fee on top of shipping to send it back. Still trying to decide whether to take it to a fab shop and turn it into a grill guard or to just try to sell it.

Solar panel charges the battery which runs a 20 L electric cooler.

A bit of a pain. The cargo carrier makes it so the rear doors won’t open completely.
  16. Have you seen the Alurack? The site has the 12’ model for less than $900. It also looks like it might be slightly more aerodynamic. https://www.industrialproducts.com/prime-design-ar1900-alurack-aluminum-rack-with-rear-rollers-for-nissan-nv-cargo-vans.html
  17. I put 285/75/17 on the stock rims with a 2” lift. Toyo AT II. I’ve put 15k miles on them and they ride and wear well. No problems.
  18. I have been looking into getting a roof rack as well. I took the family on a 4K mile road trip and used a trailer hitch cargo carrier for the extra camping gear. I quickly realized that a roof rack would be much more convenient. I like the Aluminess but $3k is pretty pricey. The ladder in the image above looks like the no-drill unit that Advanced makes. I think they cost about $450. I’ve seen a Smittybilt 50125AM for around $1100 but I don’t want to drill any holes in my roof and I doubtful that the fixed mount points will match with the Smittybilt rack. You mentioned that someone has installed a Smittybilt on their NV. I have searched the site and I haven’t found any posts about that. Can you tell me who installed a Smittybilt? I’ve also been looking at the Alurack https://www.industrialproducts.com/prime-design-ar1900-alurack-aluminum-rack-with-rear-rollers-for-nissan-nv-cargo-vans.html Has anyone installed one of those on their van?
  19. I own a 4x4 conversion from Advanced. I haven’t even thought about this. I probably should have since I am considerably bigger than the average driver (6’6” and 340 lbs) and a mechanical engineer. Oh well... I do fluid mechanics not structural engineering. I haven’t noticed any problems with the front suspension in the year that I have owned my rig and I have driven on a few Jeep trails. Although the back is typically loaded with camping gear when I take it off road. By the way, I have 34” tires (285/75/17 Toyo AT II) on my van with the stock rims and a 2” lift. No rubbing.
  20. I have a Trail FX E0028B brush guard for the NV that I would like to sell. $250 plus shipping. I bought it because it was advertised as a grill guard in stead of a brush guard, unfortunately I couldn’t find a picture of it at the time when I bought it. I installed it anyway to check if it would work for me. I immediately took it off because it interferes with my front parking sensors. Needless to say that it won’t work for you if you have an SL like I do. If you have an S or SV,my loss is your gain.
