Gas milage on NV 1500
Honey Do It Right replied to rochester's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
I have the 2500 V6. It gets 11 -13 around town (Denver). 19-21 going up and down the mountain highways to the ski resorts in the rocky mountains. -
I got mine from Joe Machens in Columbia MO. I have seen 19 MPG average going from Denver to Vail. Up and down the mountain. Max speed about 65. Long trip this summer to TN and back and that was higher speed. Averaged about 15 MPG Highway This was due to higher rpm and coefficient of drag. I would rather have the V8 still but so be it. Next one I buy needs a better traction control or they need to go 4WD optional.

Definately, Edmunds.com has the good advice. If they are giving you a deal on the SF then that would be coming out of the better price you could haggle down to. You should not pay any dealer hold back as well. If there is that line on the sales paperwork then call them on it and pay little to none of it. good luck.

See my new pics of the window installation process. It was really easy. I was a bit aprehensive about cutting through the side of the van. Then, gave it a go and wondered what I was worried about in the first place. Been through the high powered car wash a couple times since and dry as a desert inside. -

This shows the inside of the slider after install was finished. The handle and cover went back in perfectly without trimming anything. The nuts are also from Nissan. Order them when you order the glass. I did not know this till I opened the box and no nuts. Count and locate all your studs as there are some holes in the inner skin that are not used. The studs are all on the glass and I used my impact driver to tighten them all, (not too much) and it was a breeze. I used a total of 2 jigsaw blades. I would recommend this to anyone who wants glass and has a jigsaw. Especially on the slider. The feild of view makes it much better when you have to have it. -

Inside view of driver's side. See out but not in basically. -

Driver's side done. Perfect fit and a very good price. I saved over $500 by doing it myself. Kids are very happy they get a view while buckled in and I get more view as well. They are very private too. Factory fit is awesome. I am glad I went this way rather than aftermarket. -

Finished slider. This door does require that you pull the interior handle mechanism to drill the holes and fasten the nuts on the studs. -

After trimming the sides and round corners mostly through to the center of the top and bottom, I used some tape to hold the shett metal in place while I severed it completely so as not to have it fall and possibly scratch the paint. If you have a second person they can catch it. -

On the tilt out window the frame comes off. I believe this makes for an eaisier installation cause you can not keep it shut without the screws for the handle hardware installed already. It was also a nice way to prefit the studs into all the drilled holes. Now to cut the sheet metal! -

Finished! Seat belt post does not get in the way of the handle to open the window. It tilts out about 4 inches total. -
I bought the windows direct from Nissan. I paid about $425 for the pair. The slider is fixed and the drivers side hinges at the top. I preferred fixed but it was all they offered at the time. It was simple I mean real simple, to do. Just over 2 hours start to finish. See the pics I posted of the process.

Pull off the wood panels if you have them. -

Nicely packed in shipping box with adhesive on the glass covered by blue plastic ribbon. Although the adfhesive had some styrofoam and dust on it it was still very sticky. -

No glass. Just before starting. -

Get the glass from Nissan. Best fit and price. Just about $425 for both sides. -

I wanted buckets vs. a bench. This allows for sheet goods, plywood drywall to slide in between when standing up. -

Great seats for the price. Mazda MPV at junk yard mint condition only $75 for the pair, with floor rails and seat belts. -

Takes less than ten minutes from box to done. Great pre cut pre padded product! -

Some drilling and hammering. Finding the right location was not that hard but not super simple. Mounts where easily removed from Mazda as they where bolted in to the floor. -
I have a 2500 bought used and I installed some rear seating for picking up kiddos from school and such. I have no windows on the slider or on the drivers side. The rear doors do have windows. Has anyone installed the aftermarket windows? I have seen them available from a couple different Mfr's. I could surely do this myself as I installed the rear seating. The task is a bit gnarley as you are cutting the sheet metal out of the door and the panel on the drivers side. ( Seats taken from a MAZDA MPV. They bolt into the floor. They clip in and out for simple stowing. Passenger side slides to the center on tracks for rear access.Tried to post pics but file too large.)

Hello I have the v-6 2500 and got it used from a Nissan dealer that used it as parts delivery. It had 10K when I got it just over a year ago. I average 12 to 12.5 in mixed driving with an average of 500 lbs. of cargo. Very Dissappointed! I hear that some are getting in the high teens and this blows my mind. I wanted and expected to get an extra 3-4 MPG, and would rather have the V-8 power for this crummy mielage. Driving in Denver at this altitude should not decrease the MPG that much. Love the truck hate the MPG.
