  1. Based on the Body Builder Guide for the NV, there is extra capacity available for upfitter use to power auxiliary equipment. There are multiple power circuits available, two of which are rated at 50A max load. I have a Sterling 60A B to B charger installed in my 2500 V8 that has been working fine for 2 years with no issues. You will be fine with your 40-50A charger.
  2. Thanks NV. As luck would have it, their shop is nearby.
  3. That's great news! and just in time for winter. Would you mind sharing the name of the upfitter? This is something that I may be willing to hire someone to install. For the fuel supply, do you know if they connected to the fuel tank sender/pump assembly or tapped into the fuel return line from the stock fuel system? Also, that looks like a Swivels-r-us swivel. We have one and love the fact that we've got a built-in piece of furniture when camping.
  4. I've been considering a Webasto heater myself, but havent yet determined whether it it is a 'must have'. There is another forum member who did install one under the passenger seat, so not sure why the upfitter gave you that response. It would be helpful to know whay they're hesitant. The write up for the install is not complete but there are some photos that help to tell the story and also how they tapped into the fuel pump assembly.
  5. Welcome to the group. Not too lively in here, but there is good information to be found pertaining to the NV. I'm also in NE and have been very slowly converting our 2018 NV2500. Most of the mqjor systems are in place (insulation, floor, walls, water tank & plumbing for sink & outside shower, bed w/ storage underneath, power system w/ solar panels up top). Need to finish interior ceiling/lighting and fabricate couple of cabinets to call it 'finished'.
  6. Yes, the prices for used Pasenger NV's has skyrocketed. If you are on Facebook, there is a group called "Nissan NV Families" that is primarily focused on the 'large family' hauling capabilities of the passenger model. One of the more popular discussion topics lately is the rising values of the NVP; likely brought on by Nissan's discontinuing of the platform. There are numerous posts of people looking to buy/sell and the numbers you've quoted above are not uncommon.
  7. Nissan has a Body Builder Guide for the NV's that is buried deep in their website. There are several pages devoted to roof racks & the mounting points for both low & high roof models. https://www.nissan-techinfo.com/bbg.aspx
  8. Yes, the Swivelsrus swivel seems to be the only game in town for the NV. I installed one in ours and we're happy with it. Installation instructions could have used a bit more detail, but the install was fairly straightforward. Another member here recently installed a swivel and put together a detailed writeup of the process. Look in the "Interior" section of this forum.
  9. Never mind my previous question. Hardware was supplied with the swivel. Got it installed tonight without too much difficulty. Was not convinced that the 4 bolts provided for mounting the seat to the swivel top plate was adequate and added a couple more. The swivel is well made and there are no discernible signs of play or rocking of the seat. It is kind of fiddly to turn the seat around - need to slide seat forward (but not too far forward) and open door a bit, but I can't fault the swivel for that.
  10. Ordered a swivel seat mount from swivelsrus and it is scheduled to be delivered today. Excited to do the install. One question though, is all the necessary hardware included or is that something I need to purchase separately? thanks
  11. At this point, I'm not surprised that their 'computer' says its a bus. From looking at some of the replies above, its clear that USAA has insured NVP's in the very recent past. Be insistent that it is not for commercial use and its simply to haul your family around. Maybe don't request to speak with a supervisor, but instead ask if there is someone else you can speak with who will help.
  12. We've recently insured our 2018 2500 cargo van through USAA for personal use. It took a bit of convincing on our part as I believe their computer system automatically considers the NV a commercial vehicle. We had financed the van through USAA and the loan was held up for this same reason. This was frustrating, but in all the years we've been insuring/banking with USAA, this is the first time we've had a problem. I recommend that you call them back and push the issue. Also mention that it won't be registered as a commercial vehicle.
  13. Despite not getting a better answer other than "the tech ran the A/C for an hour and it was fine", I went ahead and bought the van (2500SV high roof). I wound up taking it back to the dealer later that week to have a paint issue addressed and was provided with a loaner van. The loaner was a 1500S and also did the blowing cold/warm thing when the temp dial was set mid-range. I'm guessing that the system is attempting to regulate the set temp and winds up overcorrecting - either cold or warm. I suppose that I'll just need to learn to set the temp dial to a cooler setting...
  14. Its a cargo van without rear AC and also no dual zone control. The temp variations occurred both at idle and when driving on local roads and the highway. It would blow cool for maybe 5 mins, then warm for maybe a minute or two, then cool again. Outside temp was about 75F and had the temp control set midway in the blue.
  15. Planning to take delivery of a 2018 NV2500 SV next week. During the test drive, I noticed the cool air then warm air then cool air thing. Never had this happen before on any previous vehicles unless the the gas pedal buried in the floor. I mentioned this to the salesman and he was going to arrange to have the service department look at it. My hope is to get a real answer before I hand over the money and still have a little bit of leverage.
