I have the same issue...tried swapping the door jam switches on 2 front doors...still showing left front door opened...I opened and closed all the doors and then it went off....no idea why it occurred. -

Fabric covered (reflectics)insulation covers for windshield. Cut to fit tight around edges. I used the sun visors unclipped and flipped down to hold them tighter. Really keeps the heat out. -

I went to florida and stayed in a campground with the RVW chapter. While there I saw a Lazy Daze rv. I came home knowing I wanted a 23.5 ft LD. So I have decided to post my NV 2500 with 20k miles for sale. I have a thousand or more pictures of the conversion from the start to the point as of now. Was ready to start on the Galley but I have decided to let 5he new owner make it from their design needs. I will list it on other sites in a few weeks but will put the word out on the forum.

My first van was a GMC Savanna...without a high top. It was a 2001 and a factory conversion. ..Gm only made them for 2 years... I put a twin bed in on the side, a cabinet for a galley, my dc fridge and a thetford cassette toilet. No fan or roof ac..took a 2,000 mile trip and came back knowing what I needed. It was hotter in Florida than I thought for January. The s reen I made for the windows did not stop the no seeums... I worked outside early in the morning to beat the Georgia heat and now I have worked when it was not raining and above 50°. This really is my first conversion..the GMC was just the basics. I hate dirty hotel rooms and this is the main reason I did the first one. I am happy so many people put of info, how to videos on utube.I spent 1000s of hours researching this project.

When I first bought the van it had the commercial bins, safety cage panels, wall boards and console in it. I removed all of them. I sold the shelving but still have the other items for sale. I installed sound deadner, thinsulate, and the foil type insulation. I install nailers using the existing threaded inserts using bolts M8 1.25 from ace. Nothing else will work. I installed threaded rivets in the existing holes used for the push pins that held the wall boards on. I used thin paper as a template for the location. I used paper templates for just about everything. Nothing is square or level in the van. I used 5/8 Baltic birch in 5x5 sheets cut to fit. I chose it because of its size and cost. I found a supplier who sold sherts for 20.00 each...yes 20. He makes shipping boxes for the specialty equipment for high end electronics. The ceiling is 1/4 inch and with the 5x5 sheets it was easy to cover with 2 sheets. I used akreg jig and screws to secure panels to floor and other componets. -

I knew I wanted ac in my second van and a maxxfan. It was a struggle to decide where each would go. I know now that I could have moved the ac or fan more forward and to the rear of the roof because the 14 inch limit for the opening was needed. I think I could have used the area between the ribs that were just under 14 inches...anyone know for sure? I used 1/4 inch aluminum strips cutout for the valleys on the roof to add strength to the edges where the ac would sit. Using a base of roof gasket and then eternabond over the aluminum extending over onto the roof and then inside over the 2x4 (cut smaller) to the start of the ribs. I did not want any possible leaks in the future to weep it's way into the layers of the ceiling panels and insulation. -

I now know I made the drawers too big but after my first attempt with drawers slides I know I will not go back and change them. I have decided to install dividers in each drawer as I go to see how I will use them. I do not plan on doing much cooking in the van but storage is essential to having what you do need stored safely away. -

I carefully cut the upper cabinet doors so the wood grain would continue from one door to the other. Using 5/8 inch Baltic birch 10 ply cabinet grade plywood. I found a supplier of 5x5 sheets of 5/8 for 20.00 a sheet. I used it for everything except drawer boxeswhich were 1/2 and cabinet back inside panels which were 1/4 inch. I will use 1/4 for the upper walls to reduce weight. All other walls with be covered in comercial cloth and insulation layers to finish. -

I relocated the tire tools and jack under the galley cabinet in wasted but accessible space. -

I cut a compartment in the base of the galley cabinet for the tire changing tools. I relocated the jack and an additional 4 way lug wrench in the same area. Accessible but out of the way in areas that otherwise would have been wasted space. -

I travel alone so with limited square footage I decided on a small twin bed 27x72 for my sleeping arrangement. I used the front frame to stabile the cabinets and front panel behind the drivers side...a bit of overkill but I hate squeeks. -
