Hello,
I have an add-on question to the swivel seat thread.
Any help is much much appreciated!!!
My girlfriend uses a power wheelchair because of MS.
We bought a 2016 Nissan NV 2500 high top with a back wheelchair lift already installed.
I was going to remove the front passenger seat and build in a flat floor for her to park her chair upfront.
BUT - her wheelchair sits her 12 inches higher than the regular van seat and so she would be really high up, and feels a bit tippy as it is.
Now I am thinking to put a swivel seat in, and help her transfer from her wheelchair seat into the passenger seat, when it is swiveled around,.
I will need to swivel the seat back to forward, with her sitting in it.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Mainly, would 180 lbs added to the weight of the seat make it impossible/really hard to turn?
And, I need to make sure that her knees will clear the drivers seat while turning.
Can someone please measure on their swivel install, this distance for me?
When your passenger seat is 90 degree from the forward position, directly facing the drivers seat. And the drivers seat is in the forward position.
Distance from the back of the passenger seat (where your lower back touches the seat) to the side of the drivers seat. (essentially the knee clearance space.)
My girlfriend is really tall and has long legs.. so i want to check if we can do this before paying for the parts.
Also we probably cannot afford the B&D transfer seats made for wheelchair users, they cost several thousands. Ahhh!!!
Thanks fro you help! We sooo much appreciate it
