dbly1850 started following Upgraded from SV1500 to SV2500, Home built NV camper conversion video, Where do you get a 9 foot car wash at? and and 7 others

I bought a NV2500 Hi-Top and have been living out of it full time for 2 years now. In cleveland ohio. I love it. I just threw in a bed, refrig, stove, toilet and thus far I am doing good. I have found out, trying to beat the cold -is just not worth it. My van is unheated during the winter. I sleep under a warm sleeping bag (On a full size bed) and blankets and I am warm as toast. I use a remote starter and warm up the van before crawling out. works for me. I also love the stealth. RV's have laws that ban their usage in the city and must be used in a RV park at $$$ dollars every night. I park all over and have yet to spend a dime to park over night.

Well I converted my NV2500 V6 into a nice Van dwelling. I added two marine batteries to power the dual fans mounted on the back door and a trucker style refrigerator that sits where the passenger seat was. I have been living full time out of it for over a year and that includes the great lakes winter. I have a fullsize cot and plenty of room. I add curtains to allow total stealth. I think this is the cheapest way to live at the moment. I just make a car note. No electric, gas, water, sewer, city taxes, garbage pickup fees, mowing the lawn. I guess the list could go on. But you get the idea. check out the link below for the yahoo group.

I have a NV2500 High Top and I still have not found a car wash - other than the dealer. Has anyone else found a place that can handle a tall NV van?
-
Don't need the seat - I have never put mine back in and I still have no issues. for me it was a waste of space

I took mine out for the space to install a refrigerator.. Pull the air bag harness out and put a "1.5" Ohms resister (One point five Ohms) Then use the reset function. Turn on the van as so as the air bag light comes on, turn off (note you are NOT starting the van during these cycles) do this 4 times and then start the van on the last round.. Air bag light goes off and you have full air bags up front.. I looked this up on google and it worked first time.. jerk Dealer couldn't get it to work and said.. Guess you got no air bags.. unless you buy a replacement bag only at 975 bucks.. The 1.5 ohm resistor was under a buck..

I am one WD8MMF - out of Cleveland, Ohio.. It's too bad the built in inverter can *just* barely power up a battery pack for a small drill. Plan on powering everthing via 12dc or add a better inverter. I add a pair of house batteries so I can power 2 fans mounted on the back doors and a refrig. So far everything working ok..

I also have the back blocked off and depend on the sensors. I also had the rear window package. I converted my Van into a RV and needed a place to mount a "Fantasic Fan" normally they are mounted into the ceiling. To much trouble dealing with those ceiling interior and exterior cross bars. So I took out the rear windows and it is wonderful. I have a white van and the white fan tops are not bad looking. I have to wait till winter to see how it effects my temps on the inside. Anyway those looking to mount a fan for ventilation, take a look at the back door, for a mounting spot. I have two remote controled units (one on each door) and I loved it. I can reach around and open or close them from the drivers seat. and I have one blowing out and the other blowing in.. works perfect and was money well spent. -David

I am the proud owner of a NV2500 High Top. Thus it does NOT fit most car washes. Even the manual ones I can get inside are a trip of hardship to wash the van. I wish I was 20 years younger. SO I considered taking the dealer up on a Xzilon treatment. I was impressed with the spray paint demo, I watched on Utube. Then I read the limited warranty - You MUST use brushless car washes or NO Touching washes.. SO Spray paint , bugs, and other items will not effect it, But those Damn touching car washes. those beat up on the product.. Ok -not a issue on my van - as they don't make a automatic car wash big enough.. But still.. the cost is 700 bucks to add the treatment. Since it is a high top - my van may not get washed as often as a low top that fits the washes.. SO is this treatment worth the money or not? and did anyone buy the treatment when they got their van. Questioning minds would love to hear their comments. David http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/NissanNV/

Actually - They need to come out with a "Standard Shift" Option. I bet they could not make them fast enough. Just think of the better control and MPG. Those of us who like a standard -would go nutz for a 2500 High Top in either a V6 or V8 with a 5 or 6 speed manual.
-
I like what they did -just don't have the deep pockets to buy one. I have been living out of my NissanNV 2500 since Dec 2011. I was able to turn it into a pretty nice rv. if you like to talk or seek more information check out the yahoo group NissanNV-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

2012 factory service manual - where to buy?
dbly1850 replied to dbly1850's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
The Disc has everything you need.. wiring, outlines, the whole nine yards.. for 8 bucks you can not go wrong -
Mine has a auto shut off, turns off interior lights, etc, so when you say "fully to the right" you mean in the starter position? Not sure I would want to do that to the system
-
Did Those items help the MPG? I am thinking about a scangauge.. not sure how it compares to yours.. please post any data you have.. With the price of gas going up and up.. many of us are looking for ways to save.. Mine 13 city and 16 highway with average speed of 55mph.. I just got to 3k, and it will get a full synth oil change to see if that helps

I had a lot of fun with my SV1500. I added a 3k power inverter and a Compustar Remote starter. Drove it May thru Dec 2011. I got about 18 highyway and 16 city with a V6. Since my credit sucked eggs, I decided to see if I could do better than 14.75 percent (yea a big ouch) . Turns out Some crap fell off and I was able to drive a way with a brand new SV2500 Hi-Top with a V6.. Got a great price and my trade with the 3k inverter and remote start low top was a wanted animal. The Dealer gave me a great trade in-> it had 10,800 miles on it. All and All I am happy with the extra head room - I have a few bumps from the SV1500 , for not keeping the chin down..Don't have to worry about that now :-) I'll post the MPG once I break her in.. It has less than a 100 miles on it. I just got it yesterday.. Yea, I am going to shop for another inverter - Might go higher than 3.k just to have it and the remove starter from compustar goes in next week.. Talk about a gem there.. I can set it to start up if the battery voltage gets low, if the car temp gets too high or low.. and Even set a daily start time, so the van is ready to go.. Yea, you lost a notch off the mpg with all the idling.. But it's worth the comfort.. I still prefer the cost of gas compared to desiel.. and if you don't have money to drive a van with 15 - 18 MPG, why did you buy it in the first place? BTW I use my Van as a RV Camper - sleep in the back woods.. The Dealer showed me a catalog that Nissan is coming out with a full blown RV - sleep 4, has refrig, stove, a set of house batteries, etc.. about 63k.. Still cheaper than a Roadtrek or a Pleasureway.
